Yeah, we do. :P
I'm just watching VH1 Classics (still). I'm addicted.
Have any bad 80's songs that you like?

13. You're in Cleveland? I'm in Westlake. |

I wanted to make it to the shoot, but I was working. I think it would have been a little uncomfortable for me, but I would have loved to be part of something like that. How was it?

That is what pissed me off about the decade while it was actually occurring. There was this prevalent mentality that dumb is good, and questioning it in any way made one a crank. I say fuck that, that mentality is what let Reagan prevail. Dumb was rewarded, thinking was wrong and discouraged.
Got to to be the pissed off asshole to ruin your thread, but I am an arrogant bastard. Always have been, always will be. :P
My anti-80's attitude will never die, 24 years and counting, woohoo.
Needless to say, I enjoyed being a thinking dissenter during that time, much as I enjoy being a curmudegeonly Uncle Zomby on DU. ;-)

It was just about my taste in music on occasion. Kind of falls in line with the occasional appeal of silly slapstick comedy.
Curmudegeons don't bother me, I welcome the challenge.
For my pissed off asshole, buddy Zomby:

With friends like you, whom I accept unconditionally, I know you will let me have my say, as I let you have yours, and even when we disagree, it's okay, because we know why we are the way we are.
Don't ever change, don't ever shy away from your love of your music and your attitudes.
Just thanks for giving me the room to be the crank I am. x 1,000.

10. Nothing personal, Sarah, but I've always detested that song. |
|
Granted, it's not as horrendous as Eddie Murphy's "Party All The Time" or Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus," but I still find the damned thing unlistenable.

Silly, stupid, pointless. I had been immersing my brain all afternoon in microbial genetics, communicable diseases, and all sorts of complex academic stuff while this music was one. It was like a yin-yang thing for counter balance. Cathartic in a sense.

16. "The Rain" By Oran Juice Jones..... |
|
when I was in the Navy this was the first song I was able to pick on an American Radio Station as I was coming back from my first Med Cruise in '86...I always associate that song with coming home! LOL It truly is a bad song...but...I will always love it...the next song was "Holding Back The Years" by Simply Red (now that is a really great song)......My biggest memory of Europe that year was Madonna and her "True Blue" album where everywhere..."Papa Don't Preach" and "Live To Tell" were all over the radio in Europe in '86.

he was pretty tight with Jody Watley...the song was really pretty bad although it was catchy...unfortunately Jermaine died in 1997 of AIDS.
