XM Radio has a great deal going on
I bought a portable car receiver today (the Roady 2) by XM Radio.

You install it by plugging it into the cigarette lighter, plugging into and then popping the magnetized antenna on the hood or trunk and then calling XMR's 800 number to activate your account. You wait an hour for the stations to load and you're on.

The cost was $119 at Best Buy--$129 at Circuit City.

The deal: you also get a $69 in-home attachment kit free with a mail-in of the barcode and receipt. You can take the car receiver into the house and plug it into your regular radio with this kit. This is a good deal. I was going to buy this item a month or so ago and now it's free.

BTW: Air America is not listed on the play list by it's name--it's listed as "America Left" for some reason but it comes in loud and clear on channel 167.

1. I'm just not sure of the point of XM radio.
I suppose I'm just too old to get it! I already get Sirius on my cable at home.

4. You don't get Randi Rhodes.
Also, you do know that Clear Channel is part-owner of XM, right?

5. 2 % share isn't exactly part-ownership
But at least you got it partially correct. As an XM subscriber, I've had to defend XM's honor numerous times here from folks who say CC "owns" XM. I couldn't care less which talk stations are diced up because I listen to the radio for music, to get away from news and talk. In retrospect, though, I would have gotten Sirius for one thing only:
NFL!!!!!!!!

6. I am looking for a Sirius "deal"..they carry the whole lineup
of Air America... and I could not willingly part with money that went to clear channel.. but satellite radio is definitely the way to go :)

We also need a new radio in the car.. I hate having to make these decisions.. I always think I got ripped off..
