The Chicago political machine?
I think I may have seen an example of the infamous Chicago political a few hours ago. As I was leaving my apartment with two of my friends for dinner, we saw a car at a nearby corner with three large men in it. One of them came out, probably the biggest of the group (about 6'6, had to be about 225 or so), and asked us, of all things, who we were voting for.

I, the smallest of the group by probably a good 50 pounds, instinctively responded, "Kerry".

Them: "Good, good."

A few doors down from them, two men, one obviously dressed for work or some other important occasion, greeted us with a rather oddly polite, "good afternoon, gentlemen".

So this got one of my friends thinking, what would have happened if I were to say, for example, Bush*? Have I just been witness to the newest incarnation of the Chicago political machine?

5. Chicago Political Machine?
Is that what they used to remove the runway at Meigs field while there were still PLANES AT THE FRICKING AIRPORT?

Just wondering... I love Chicago. Honestly. Moving there in about 5 years to do Graduate Work.
