it's nearly midnight and I can't sleep
some of the random thoughts keeping me awake:

I want a Prius so badly it hurts . . . time, please pass so we can have enough saved to make it happen

god . . . let me win the lotto between now and six am so I don't have to go to work for that harridan . . .

god . . . let me shrink into this new haircut (#2 clippers? what was I thinking?)

why in hell did I watch "Monster?!"

heh . . . kittens under the porch . . . :D

how am I going to work with that woman when I can't stuff my face?

kittens . . . kittens . . . kittens . . .

heh . . . Daddy doesn't like warm milk, and Cocoa's trying to bury it

I didn't mean it when I said I hope the cable in the elevator snaps when you step on board

the seat has a chip in it . . .

sigh

1. Was that "Monster" about the serial killer?
'cuz that was excellent, if a little disturbing.

SciFi had a movie on this afternnon, also caled "Monster." Can I have that 2 hours of my life back?

3. Yep, the one about Wuornos
the movie for which they should've given Theron 10 Oscars. DAMN. What a performance. It's still keeping me awake a week later.

6. She got screwed in the press, though.

Most of the movie reviewers were saying things like: "Oh, everyone says it's good because she's ugly in this movie: and "She only got the oscar because they made a pretty woman ugly."

Total bullshit -- I don't think I've ever seen an actor nail a role as well as she nailed Aileen Wuornos. Traash-talking, spitting, smoking, hard-drinking, ass-kicking, redneck from the South, with a bad attitude to boot, yet stil a human being. Did you notice the swagger she did?

What amazed me even more wasn't just that she got the stereotype right (my aunt had a lover like this, on and off, for a decade, and it was a little frightening to see how well Theron performed it) -- but after watching the documentary of the real Wuornos, she copied every mannerism in perfection.

7. my sister -- court tv junky -- said the same thing:
that Theron nailed it. Yes, I noticed the swagger, and every tiny tic the actor affected just made her that much more believable. It isn't that she came to love murdering men, or her coldness, or her manipulation, or even the act that set her to her first killing, that disturbed me about the film.

It was her humanity. That she was desperate to be loved, and acted like a kid actually going through with her first crush . . . . christ, I could discuss this film all night, but I have to go to bed.

Yeah, Theron rocks, and I hope she has a fantastic career.

I'm off to try again. 'night, all, and thanks for leaving the light on for me.

2. Sounds like a case of too much caffeine
Or did you eat too late tonight. That always keeps me tossing and turning.

I would have problems getting to sleep right now, too, but I don't have to get up until noon. I slept until 3pm today, my day off.

4. not too much, but just enough, and too late
I opened a diet coke at 7:00 and finished it at 9:00.

Either that, or my book is too compelling to close. That could be. The first time I've read Willa Cather, and she's amazing.
