For this I went to college? |
|
Sweeping, laundry, taking out the dog, refilling the dog biscuit tins, picking up, dressing the kid, bleaching the cutting boards, scraping wallpaper, repairing toys, taking the kid out to play...I could saved myself a lot of trouble.

We're feeling friendly today, aren't we? If you're a fellow, I certainly hope you never say that to the mother of your child.

I don't believe it's easy. I was only questioning the use of the word "slave", which you didn't use. Hope you get some relaxation time today.

7. KCDem would have commiserated with you a few months ago |
|
But she finally decided to get a job out of the house. She's a lot happier now, and that's why she's not on DU very much anymore.

8. Is it your kid and house or are you hired help? |
|
If you're hired help, perhaps a new career path is in order.
If it's your house and kid, there isn't much to do about it. But ask Dookus points out it is your lifestyle choice.

9. Bleaching the cutting boards? |
|
That's a little over the top.
The only way your child is going to build up his immune system is by subjecting him to various bacteria.
At least, that's always been our excuse. Now we have two boys who are strong, like bull.

And yes, our child is exposed to the full range of flora and fauna--the finest the South Side has to offer.

but my education helps me to appreciate the things my child says and find cool ways to enjoy his views and exploits. As far as the housework goes, I sympathize. I deal with it by not taking it ( housework) very seriously and getting out of the house a lot when school is not in session. :)
I use my degrees for work and then for my home life, I guess.

12. Whoa, a Dog AND a little kid |
|
Edited on Mon Jul-26-04 11:46 AM by new_beawr
That's tough. I sympathize. We have two kids, 6 and 4. No Dog though. Fortunately, I was working at home from the birth of our 4 year old onwards, SOOOO, I was able to carry much more of the load than someone that has to actually show up for work.
For a year, the wife was out at work while I stayed home and worked. We hired a part time nanny, 21 year old college student, I was usually in the basement slinging code or writing. That kept our brains in the game while injecting some very energetic 21 year old, intelligent woman's influence into our children's lives for 20 hours a week. Maybe you could do something like that.

17. I suggest volunteering for your local democratic committee |
|
you can make your own schedule and help the Democratic party.
You will make a ton of new friends and most likely meet contacts that will help you to find a job or provide a reference when you re-enter the workforce.
I find the Dems I work with don't care if I bring my kids into headquarters...it makes the place lively....
