1. Kerosene?
Just a guess. I've never seen anything other than propane.

7. Sporting goods stores used to sell coleman fuel...
I have used white gas(unleade gas). There are enough of the non propane lanterns out there that there should be fuel.

Naptha is dry cleaning fluid, IIRC.

FWIW, more on coleman fuel and white gas:

http://www.logicsouth.com/~lcoble/dir9/whitegas.txt

"For most folks, though, Unleaded or White Gas is the fuel of choice, and Coleman Fuel is just about the best brand."

6. I'm always partial to nitroglycerine.
It gives off intense heat, but in a rather short period of time. Think of flash frying your steaks, face, hands, other body parts that may be in the way.

OK. White fuel works fine. If this is ye olde model with the little push pump on one side, that increases pressure, then, white is perfect for it.

8. It's been a number of years since we used ours, but
we used to be able to get Coleman stove fuel at REI, Sports Authority, and Sears.
