Ladies and gentlemen... Introducing Finnfan Jr.!!!!
My son Kevin asked me to start a thread for him, and I thought, "Hey! I can be on DU AND spend time with my son!" So if anyone has any questions for Finnfan Jr., ask away.

Kevin is 9 years old (so please keep the questions G-rated), and recently interrupted a Cub Scout pack meeting with chants of "Democrats! Democrats! We all must be Democrats!" :D

Kevin's first question for all of you is "What monsters are going to be in the new Godzilla movie?" This question is khephra's fault. He once posted about the new Godzilla movie, and I told Kevin, and now he thinks that Godzilla is all we talk about. :-)

 I don't know why he thinks it's weird. His dad is Finnfan, for crying out loud!

He just had 2 chocolate bars and now he's getting chocolate ice cream (which we happened to have on hand). YOU try to put him to bed tonight! :evilfrown:

Kevin says "thank you" for the ice cream, by the way. :D

3. Does he watch Transformers on CartoonNetwork?
'Cuz they're going to be making a new movie about them, live action, like Lord of the Rings.

Personally, I always liked Mecha King Ghidorah. He was cool in the movies, and he's the toughest guy in the Nintendo game. Make your dad buy the game.

He doesn't watch Transformers, but he does watch Cartoon Network a lot. In fact, he's got Pokemon on as we speak. :-(

7. It's better than Hamtaro
Cartoons that rock: SpongeBob, Fairly Odd Parents, Transformers, Batman, Batman Beyond, Superman, and Justice League.

I've got an eight year old, but she's a girl. Those first two cartoons are her favorites, and the others are mine.

8. Here are Kevin's favorites:
Danny Phantom, Fairly Oddparents, Spongebob, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Ed Edd & Eddy, and The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.

I could have gone on but I made him stop there. I think my son needs to get out more... :scared:

10. Does he like to read?
My friend Jeff does a graphic novel that he would probably love! It's called "Bone" and you can find it here: www.boneville.com or wait until Febuary when Scholastic Books puts it out in color (but the single volume at Boneville.com is cheaper). Scholastic is hoping that it will become next year's "Harry Potter", which they also print.

Here's more info from a recent article:
Scholastic Launches New Graphic Novel Imprint, Graphix, With Award-Winning Series Bone

NEW YORK, July 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In January 2005 Scholastic will launch its new graphic novel imprint, Graphix, with the publication of Jeff Smith's award-winning series Bone, it was announced today. The first Bone comic book was released by independent publisher Cartoon Books in 1991. Now a nine-volume book series, it has been met with international acclaim. Originally published in black and white, Scholastic's new Graphix edition of Bone will be in color with a 6x9 inch trim size.
"We are thrilled to launch Graphix with the highly acclaimed and award- winning series Bone," said Jean Feiwel, Publisher and Editor in Chief, Scholastic. "The mission of Graphix is to bring the visual literacy and aesthetic sense of graphic novels to children, and Bone has exactly the originality and artistic vision we were looking for. We will launch Graphix in Spring 2005 and add original titles, reprints, and imports for ages 6-14 as we find, develop, and acquire them. We are excited and ambitious on behalf of Graphix, but we are not looking to simply fill up a pipeline. Each acquisition will be carefully considered."

"Nothing could be better for the art form of comics than having a respected house like Scholastic get behind it," said Bone cartoonist Jeff Smith. "More and more people are realizing how much fun and imagination it takes to read a graphic novel. Comics excite both kids and adults for that reason. I am very happy to have the chance to join with a major publisher to take the books to a much wider audience."

Bone, sometimes described as Pogo meets The Lord of the Rings, tells the story of the three modern Bone cousins, Fone Bone, Phoney Bone and Smiley Bone, who find their way into a hidden, pre-technological valley filled with wonderful and terrifying creatures. According to bestselling author Neil Gaiman, Bone creator "Jeff Smith can pace a joke better than almost anyone in comics; his dialogue is delightful -- so are all his people, not to mention his animals, his villains, and even his bugs."

Scholastic will launch Bone as the flagship title for Graphix with a six- figure marketing campaign. Bone will be officially announced at Comic-Con International 2004, and promotional items will include comic book teaser booklets, give-aways, and in-store display and merchandising materials. Scholastic will also mount a national advertising and publicity campaign including author appearances at conventions, book and comic book stores, and a dedicated Bone page on Scholastic.com in cross-promotion with Cartoon Books' existing "boneville.com" website. Advance copies will be sent to a very wide range of key influencers in the children's and adult book worlds, and special attention will be paid to the library market where Bone has been consistently acclaimed for its role in promoting literacy.

Jeff Smith has done artwork for all the major comic book publishers while spending most of the last twelve years creating Bone for Cartoon Books, the independent imprint he started with his wife Vijaya Iyer in 1991 in their hometown of Columbus, Ohio. Smith has won multiple awards for his work here at home as well as in Germany, France, Spain, Finland, Norway, and Italy. Cartoon Books also publishes a variety of other series, both related and unrelated to Bone, and its books are distributed in numerous major foreign territories and in sixteen languages.

Scholastic Corporation is the world's largest publisher and distributor of children's books. Scholastic creates quality educational and entertaining materials and products for use in school and at home, including children's books, magazines, technology-based products, teacher materials, television programming, film, videos and toys. The Company distributes its products and services through a variety of channels, including proprietary school-based book clubs, school-based book fairs, and school-based and direct- to-home continuity programs; retail stores, schools, libraries, and television networks; and the Company's Internet Site, http://www.scholastic.com/ .

Publisher Jean Feiwel negotiated the deal with Cartoon Books' president, Vijaya Iyer, and its regular counsel, attorney Vincent M. Waldman of Los Angeles.

13. He likes to read. He reads every night.
He says that this sounds cool, but he wants to wait for the color version. I'll bookmark the website. :-)

I've read him the first four Harry Potter books. We haven't gotten to the fifth yet.

14. He is not actually a Finnfan :-(
Although he does like the Finn Brother's new song "Won't Give In".

He loves Jason Mraz's "The Remedy", and he can listen to it over and over and over and over... :puke:

He also once spent an entire afternoon searching Real Rhapsody for the Godzilla theme song.

15. Will and I say "Hey!"
Will is 9, too. He wanted to sell his hand-me down roaring Godzilla toy at the comicbooks/cards store to fund more Pokemon cards. He likes Yu-gi-oh, too, but is loyal to Pokemon.
He wants a Democratic Underground Jr. version.
