Came home from campaigning on a bus full of wingnuts.
I had such a great day campaigning for Kerry in Boston, then when I was riding the bus home (wearing my Kerry buttons and stickers), I ended up on a bus full of wingnuts, including the bus driver. I was on such a high, spending a day with like-minded folks, then I got hit with this shit on the bus heading for the town where I live. (It was particularly weird because most people in this area are Dems.) I couldn't believe it! They were all going on about how they like bush, how they're in favor of going into Iraq. Talking about how all the troops they know who are/were in Iraq have the same opinion. I just threw in my comments here and there, laughing the whole time because I couldn't believe the asinine comments I was hearing from them.

1. Don't let them get you down. They're pathetic. By the way. I love your
bird. Birds rule.

3. Thanks for the compliment for my bird.
Birds do rule, and Grace certainly rules in this house. :D

6. I have an umbrella cockatoo...I love him, too.......However
After 8 years together I think we're starting to drive each other crazy.

I retired about a year and a half ago...Now he's getting spoiled. He can't stand not to see me.

Did you ever hear a cockatoo scream? I can't imagine a flock of them in Indonesia.

The people across the street IN the video store asked if that's my bird they hear....In the winter !

I threaten my kids with leaving him in my will to one of them

Only 72 more years to go.

7. Wow--you have and umbrella?
From what I understand, those guys insist upon attention 24/7. And yes, I have heard a cockatoo scream--not too pleasant to listen to, to put it mildly.

You'll probably have to leave him with one of your kids; unless you're a kid when you get a 'too, it will probably outlive you.

4. I know, you guys are right.
That's why I was laughing as I 'sparred' with them. But it was a bit of a downer after the high I was on all day.
