Anybody else up late and still excited?
So yeah, maybe I've been drinking. Maybe I've gone a little crazy and watched all the speeches 2-3 times now. Maybe I'm going a little bit overboard since its only monday. But I'm freaking pumped.

Am I alone?

3. Better musicians, comedians, artists...
Maybe thats a generalization but I think you're right. Theres just a spark of creativity and life that you don't find very often in republicans.

The music tonight really was amazing though. A great night all around.

4. A friend e-mailed me tonight and asked if *I* had picked the music...
...for the convention! Needless to say, I took it as quite a compliment.

But yeah, my hat's off to whomever selected the convention's music. Vintage soul mixed in with Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan, and other rockin' geniuses of days gone by. Magnifique! :kick:

(Yes, I deliberately used a French word in the hope that some freeper reads it and blows a gasket.)

5. I'm up late.
But I usually am. It's due to the anxiety I always have. Sigh.

8. I was listening to a local talk show
from Seattle on KIRO. Pretty goood station overall, but this guy was this pits. I can't remember his name, but he describes himself as a Nixon Republican.

Anyway, he was making the arguement that the conventions are obsolete because they don't choose the candidate. This guy wants a mystery novel with a surprise ending. Like a lot of other pundits, he says it "just" a show business extravaganza. I've heard that a feww too many times from too many people.

I grew up listening to great Democrats give great rousing speeches and Conventions. I can never get enough of it.

Perhaps the purpose of the Conventions has been redirected, but that far from makes them obsolete.

Comments?

10. The republicans would love to frame this as "irrelevant"
And maybe it is a bit of a pagent, but its one of the only tools we have left to get our message across.

I'm 23 years old personally, and this is the first year I've had a real, serious appreciation for the convention. I just feel validated and hopeful. That alone, at least to me, makes this more relevant than ever.
