2. My gut reaction to hearing about AVP

was that, geez, there must be a collection of mechanical monsters
cluttering up some Hollywood warehouse, and someone got the idea
"Hey, what if we did another film, using all this junk we got laying
around here... and we don't have to hire any actors for it, or even
write much of a script... and it has a built in audience of, say,
6 million (or $48 M box office)..." OK - write it up and we'll
pitch the studios over the next week or so, one green light and we
can all be employed for the 6 months it will take to shoot this
turd"

DVD bait at best.

3. AVP was a pretty popular video game
Back in the 90's. But yes, this does look like direct to video material.

6. I guess I'm too old. Were teens really into this?

Didn't anyone object to the completely silly and lack of imagination
that this concept demonstrates?

Never mind. Ask and answered. There is a movie now.

9. What's being old have to do with this?
Dracula teamed up or was against many other horror characters in the Bela version. It's an old stand-by of horror films from the earliest days of filmmaking.

17. I quit playing video games in the eighties,,,

so I've never even heard of the video game AVP.

As for Werewolf V. Dracula movies... probably a bad concept then,
so updating it with aliens doesn't improve it, IMHO.

Of course, this is Hollywood that we are talking about...
Same people that brought you "Beverly Hillbillies on Gilligan's
Island" (and before someone jumps on me about this, I don't KNOW
that it was done or wasn't done, I'm just assuming that in some
parallel universe, it WAS done).

in the late 80's and just into the 90's. From books to games to screen.

5. Oh Oh - I've got one.

Inspired by watching the news on CNN just now.

Terminator V. MaryKate & Ashley

swear that Arrrnold and the twins were just on back to back stories.
The twins could go all "Matrix" on his ass, and the terminator could
be missing parts due to budget cutbacks in the future "skyNet" run
world (SkyNet inherits the republican budget debt).

I'm registering it NOW. Don't beat me to it! It's MINE I tell you.

8. Well, it would be in space
Since whenever a horror character gets old, they send him into space (Jason X, Leprechaun in space). But there's an old rivelry that needs to be settled.

Count Chocula vs. Frankenberry

11. Ash has also been mentioned in films with
Hellraiser's Cenobites and Michael Myers. Personally, I think the Hellraiser characters would fit Ash better.

Bruce Campbell is really hesistant to do another Evil Dead, isn't he? And Sam Raimi keeps trying to kill Ash off (Original ending of Army of Darkness).

20. I've read a lot of Bruce interviews
and he's never seemed hesitant to replay the character. Hell, he's done it for two recent video games. I think he's more along the lines of "Rami is too big now and the studios aren't interested in him taking a step back".
