Regis & Kelly on Teresa Heinz Kerry
I haven't watched this show in a long time but Ellen DeGeneres is in reruns and they were talking about the convention.

Wow! Complimentary of President Clinton's speech and really in awe of Mrs. Kerry for her "shove it" comment. Discussed how she's really going to be fun if Kerry is elected and how they've wanted to tell reporters and others "shove it" themselves, how it's a useful phrase that needs to come back!

1. Yes! I was surprised.
I thought Regis was to the right of Attila the Hun politically but it must have struck a nerve with him...he's probably had lots of obnoxious media folks in his face. I think most people are going to sympathize with Teresa.

3. Regis' wife is a feminist activist with Marlo Thomas....
and Jay Leno's wife. They are very strong leaders for women's rights. Republicans, they are not. I heard that young actress from Joan or Arcadia on TV representing the youth vote, and supporting Kerry. She is quite an outstanding speaker. Her show is about God and religious miracles. I thought she would be a republican, and she's a democrat for Kerry.

5. That's Amber Tamblyn
Fun fact: she's the daughter of Russ Tamblyn, Riff in "West Side Story." :D I've read about her support for Kerry too.

6. I looked up Regis' political donations on newsmeat.com
and the only hit was $1000 to former Senator Bill Bradley for president in 1999. Bradley endorsed Dean, by the way.

Not too shabby!

14. Amber is a good actress so naturally she is a Democrat
Most actors and actresses who support the Republicans lack talent.

Have you seen "Joan of Arcadia" yet? It is really a good show with interesting and complex characters. It most definitely is not another "Touched by an Angel."

2. Good
Them saying that conteracts all the crap the major media has been throwing on this. For lots of people who don't pay that much attention to politics this might be the first they hear of it and the initial impression they get of it.

4. I have been blessed with not having cable up here in the woods.
I listened to the convention on the radio last night. When I visit my 90 year old mother Fox TV is always on and I usually ignore it. This week when I was with her I watched it for 2 hours and I was disgusted by it. But, you know, when it comes down to it, people will vote their pocketbooks. Four bucks for a gallon of milk, two bucks for a gallon of gas, no job security, no health insurance.

8. No cable?
Yikes! I have heard of this before. Are you sure you are okay?

I am a TV junky so the thought of not having cable is like not having electricity.....which I need too.

10. Hah! That's what Will says!
I also have the smallest TV ever made. It's about 20 years old and its smaller than a labtop screen.

7. Did you see when they received a fax from the mother complaining
about how they said "shove it" so many times that her pre-schooler was running around the house saying "shove it?" Regis said, "I have two words for you -- thank you" and then he apologized.

15. At least the Mom said (in the fax) that she didn't have a problem with
Teresa saying "shove it" but that since they both said it about 40 times within 5 minutes the preschooler was saying it - so it wasn't a slam on Teresa.

9. Kelly's dad is a leader of a union and is running for state office in NJ
as a Dem. She's a Dem (I'm almost positive) but they are not going to alienate half of their audience by being partisan during their chit chat.

11. I'm glad to know this about both of them.
I used to watch the show until Ellen came on at the same time. I don't have a problem with them trying not to pander to one side or the other. I never hear Ellen talk politics on her show, yet I assume she's a liberal. (Her contributions that come up on newsmeat.com are to Barbara Boxer and the Human Rights Campaign PAC.)
