Am I right here when I say vote Democrat is not correct?

Because I've always believed that a Democrat was someone who belonged to the Democratic Party. So when someone says Vote Democrat, they're not talking about ONE person; rather the party as a whole. If that is the case, shouldn't it be Vote Democratic? Unless you meant to vote for a person within the Democratic Party, but wouldn't you say, vote for a Democrat?

It would be like me saying vote Utah, when I clearly mean vote Utahns, right?

the use of "Democrat," I think, because it sounds a lot like "rat." Who the fuck do they think they are, renaming our party?

...to suit the Repubs. It's semantics, to be sure, but it does have an impact. By the same token, one could say that "Republican" harkens back to ancient Greece, and Rome and the system of govt. in place in the Roman empire before the dictatorial Caesars. Which is why I can't write or say "Republican" but choose instead "Repub." Sorry, but I can't do the "Repuke" thing, though I know it's fashionable.
