His real name was Willisreed. He was born when the Knicks were winning. He was dapper. He stayed at parties I left. He fell in love with my grandmother's bluepoint, Rhonda, and always wanted to visit. If I brought out the carrier at my place, he'd jump in it. But if I brought it out at hers, he wouldn't go near it.

He died at 17 and his portrait hangs above my bed.
