Aw crap... just heard one of my old poker buddies died..
Andy Glazer. He was a writer for Cardplayer Magazine. I knew him when he first started playing poker. In fact, I beat him in the first tournament he played - I took first, he took second. He was a great player and an even better writer. Few people I've known put in as much effort to really learn the game as Andy did.

He was 49.

Farewell, Andy. You were a great player, an incredible writer, and one of the nicest people I've ever met in a poker room.

5. yes
he was too young. I met a thousand old bastards in the card clubs, and very few genuinely nice guys. Andy was one of the latter.

6. It's such a rarity to find poker players who are great people
I've read many of his articles, written for Cardplayer and elsewhere, and he always struck me as such a nice guy. Fourty-nine is so young for a person to pass away.

My deepest condolences

7. Yes
he was genuinely nice. And incredibly bright. He truly approached the game as a puzzle to figure out, and he asked the best questions and became a top-level competitive player in a very short time. And this was long before poker became a popular pasttime.
