"The Iron Council" by China Mieville ... who else bought it today?

Sadly, I ordered mine from Amazon.com, so I have to wait a couple of days until it comes ... :( I've been waiting for this book since I finished "The Scar" last summer.

Perdido Street Station was amazing and The Scar confirmed that this guy is a brilliant talent. King Rat and The Tain are also exceptional early/short works. All hail the New Wave Fabulists!

It's in an anthology, but I haven't gotten around to ordering it yet

I just got back from the book store. I've been waiting for this book also, and I can't wait until the kids are in bed so I can tuck in and start reading. He is my favorite new author right now.

5. I think he's going to be big

He's gaining a fan base pretty fast. His books have rich, vividly detailed worlds. New Crobuzon is a fascinating city. China is also a progressive from what I hear, and that comes through in his works. And he was featured at the world's only feminist sci-fi convention in Wisconsin, which I would have loved to have gone to.

She wasn't supposed to get it until August 4th. She ordered it through Amazon.com
