I see in Carter's eyes in 1980 what I see in Dubya's eyes right now |

Carter is accepting the nomination on CSPAN2 right now.
And I see in his eyes what I see in Dubya's eyes today, an incumbent President that knows he is going to lose and there is nothing he can do about it.

3. Yes, I can see Dubya right now...in the future...building roads... |
|
...and shelters for the needy...
....
....his orange jumpsuit neatly pressed, his shackles polished to a high lustre...

5. Huh......What an insult.... |
|
Carter was a simple, intelligent, honest man who refused to negotiate with terrorists.....
Compare that with dry-drunk, homophobic, war mongerring, mass muderer....
What you see in Dubya's eyes is a void, one that been there all his pathetic life....

6. But they share one common trait, a failed presidency |

Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 02:49 AM by tritsofme
And that's what I saw in both of their eyes.
Its not a reflection on either man's character or conviction (or lack thereof).

7. What do you mean by failed presidency? |
|
I agree the economy was in shambles during the Carter years. But I would argue Raygun/Bu$hI were a bigger failure as they drove up the debt and negotiated with terrorists. They even funded the pre-cursor to Al-Qaeda the Mujahadeen. So I am not certain in what context you are using the word failure...

8. Failure to win reelection |
|
Failure to move any substantial legislation through Congress, despite having Democratic majorities in both Houses.
I would say his Presidency was a failure.

9. Don't compare Bush with Carter. Carter is a good, moral man. |
|
who doesn't have to wear his religion on his sleeve. Words are cheap. Actions do speak louder than words. Jimmy Carter has lived the tenets of the Bible. Look, for instance, at his long standing committment to Habitat for Humanity. The comparison is not a correct one.

another Bush going down when it was 41's secret dealings with the whole October suprise that probably was a big part of WHY Carter wasn't re-elected to begin with. The BFEE deserves whatever it gets. I don't expect any Nobel Peace Prizes out of this moron that's for sure.
