3. It doesn't take much to beat Lieberman.
Hey, if you're into jazz, you should consider coming to the Detroit Jazz Fesatival over the Labor Day weekend. Three days of free jazz. And I mean REAL jazz. Here's their website: http://www.detroitjazzfest.com/

PM me if you want more info.

4. I'd love to - unfortunately I'll be busy painting my apartment with my
SO that weekend. She's finally moving in!

Thanks though - that sounds awesome. The future Mrs CStheT and I plan to travel the country to visit jazz fests - I'll definately add that one to the list!

6. The bad news is...
This is the 25th and sadly last jazz festival here. They're gong to turn it into a festival like the Montreal fest. All types of music. So the jazz will be watered down. My prediction is, they'll have it for a few more years. They'll lose their collective asses. And it'll be history after this. It was a great run while it lasted. Four stages of pure jazz, from local high schools to major acts. Man did I see a lot of great stuff there!

15. In Southeast Michigan-the rest of the state is a different story
Conyers is great, I used to live in his district. He's not the best speaker on earth, but he is an advocate for his district. I loved him in "Farenheit 9/11".

It is important to note that despite these great dems, the state legislature and the supreme court are dominated by the GOP. We also just survived a 12 year GOP governor.

5. Off topic slightly--hey Chavez, what Coltrane album is "I Think" off of?
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 09:49 AM by jpgray
I was given a tape by someone who moved out of state, and I was told Coltrane plays on one track, and I was told the title is "I Think", but I have zero idea where it comes from. I hate having this crappy version, so do you happen to know what recording it is from?

I'm not familiar - If you can give me more to go on - I'll help. Are you sure that's the name of it?

9. I'm not at all sure of the name
It's just tape to me right now, and the half-remembered remarks of a friend. Just thought I'd throw it out there. It's about four and a half minutes long with bass, piano, trumpet, sax and drums but that's about all I can say for it. Opening progression, sax solo, repeat opening progression, another sax solo and that's it.

With a bit more to go on I'd find it for you. I'm good but I'm not a miracle worker....yet!

13. That reminds me of a conversation I had with my brother
many years ago. He asked me, "I saw this great guitarist on tv last night. He had real long hair. Do you know who he was?" I said, "Well, that narrows it down to about 20,000 guitarists."
