I just had the BEST PHILLY CHEESESTEAK for lunch . . . outside of Philly |
|
Its from a little place in times square called . . . "Philly Cheasesteaks" The owner lives in Philly and owns a few rather notorious cheasesteak places. He opened this up to spread his joy. Loved the steak, but the cheese fries put me over the top.

3. I love those things, except I can almost hear my arteries harden. |
|
Philly Cheesesteaks are so damned good (I had one in Philly, in fact)
But, sadly like Chicago Deep Dish Pizza, they're not exactly health food.

its sitting in my stomach right now and I feel like I'm going to need a nap. Yeah, that was an artery hardening as I typed. I think it was worth it though. I LOVE CHEESE.

4. Then it's not a real Philly Cheesesteak |
|
Until you've waited in line for an hour on Passyunk Street in the cold at 3am in the morning either drunk, stoned or both for a cheesesteak....
....well, you just haven't had a real one yet

16. Passyunk AVENUE or as we call it "The Ave". |
|
Not a native I suspect.
Jim's Steaks on South Street is the best cheesesteak in the world. If you are ever in our fine city do not miss this.

9. Philly's Best in Chicago not bad |
|
Though it lacks the hustle and bustle of South Philly they're trying hard (you can get Tastycakes and Herr's too) - The J-Bar in Aspen has a lot of Philly guys and the "shaved ribeye" can be easily converted to a pretty good specimen- I never liked them with whiz anyway

The neolithic hunter-gatherer diet we evolved on was 10% fat, 10% protein, and 80% carbs. That, I'm told by a number of authorities, is the ideal balance for the human metabolism, propaganda to the contrary nothwithstanding.

17. From one Texan to another: finest food ever |
|
Shaved beefsteak, paper thin, fried with onions, peppers, and/or mushrooms, plus cheese (preferred cheeses vary depending upon region), all served on a sandwich roll.
Sounds bland, and maybe it is, but there is nothing quite like it.

There are a few Jason's Deli's around Texas. They serve a Philly Cheasesteak as a special often. I know there are Jason's Deli's in Austin, Houston and Dallas. Next time you are in or near one of these cities, give it a try.
