What much-hated things do you love?
For me it's Pauly Shore movies and Brussels sprouts. Yummy.

I also have an inordinate fondness for red beets.

33. Yes, I have to admit Miami and art aren't often grouped together.
I just never got into Yoko's music. I guess everyone finds different things to be "brilliant," but I just thought Yoko was weird and silly for silly's sake.

37. No, she's weird and silly because she knows no other way.
I know it's a bit of a shock, but Yoko is not being pretentious -- she's being Yoko. She is actually that strange.

And it's sort of the "outsider art" theory: she was a visual artist with no musical training; so John convinced her to make music, and she loved it. Her stuff is definitely rough, and not to every taste.

I'm okay with people who actually give her a chance, and then don't like her music. What I don't like (and I surely am not accusing you of this) is when people turn up their noses because "it's noise" or "she broke up the Beatles" (completely false, BTW), without even listening to her.

30. nearly full contact Hapkido classes
I like to work out until I am bruised and battered. The harder I get hit, thrown, or twisted up, the better. If you really want to impress me, sprain my wrist or shoulder. I also love Kendo, even when I lose or get whapped in an unarmored spot with a shinai. I also like to deliver the same britality to my training/kendo partner on the dojang mats.

I like Gwar albums.

I like moderating DU :)

55. Nearly full-contact is the best
I loved it when I competed in karate like that. Barely touching the head but full-contact to the body. My sister used to joke that I wasn't human, because I could take shots so well. After the match, I would realize how bruised up I was. I competed in one tournament with a girl whose sole technique seemed to be punching me in the arm as hard as she possibly could. Now, if she had focused any of that energy into trying to hit me anywhere else, she might have won or knocked me on my back. She didn't though, and I won the match, but left with a bruise mark on my bicep with a clearly defined imprint of each knuckle. There's a picture somewhere, because we figured I probably would never get a bruise like that again.

Teachers used to ask me if I was abused a lot. I surprised no one ever called my parents.

60. we really work each other over in class
if we did it in tournaments our school would be banned. Hapkido is so submission oriented, lots of throws and joint locks, I almost always leave the school with swollen wrists and bruises.

I had two shinai "stripes" under my right arm for two weeks earlier in the month. They hurt like hell but inspired me to win.

61. Teenagers
Seems like most adults can't stand them, but I'm an eighth grade teacher (they are 13-15 years old) and I LOVE them. They are NEVER boring, they are funny as hell (sometimes without meaning to be), irreverent, goofy, absurd (my favorite type of humor is irreverent, goofy and absurd), they are the stupidest they will ever be in their lives, you can still see the kid in their faces sometimes, other times you can totally see them as adults. They are just fun.

And yeah, sometimes they make you want to scratch your face off and tear your hair out, but it's a trade-off. I truly, truly enjoy their company.
