15. John, when I was your age, we didn't HAVE literal themes!
We had to make do with the popular music of the day.

4. Jr. Prom 1981 and the idiots at my school choose - Tuesday's Gone
Not that I don't like the song -- but a prom theme. At the time I felt Wonderful Tonight would have been a better choice. The senior class that year used "Rainbow Connection" from the Muppet Movie.

You laugh. You snicker. Bu8t somewhere in this great land of ours, there's a "Christian academy" that has selected this for its prom theme.

The only question remaining for their prom planning committee is whether or not to make the girls wear burqas...

47. Our prom didn't really have a theme
At my school, the prom was not a big deal at all. Homecoming was huge, and it was the big dance with a theme (we had a big spring dance called Spring Fiesta, but I don't recall if it was themed).

Now, in terms of Homecoming themes, the one my senior year was...well, a little odd. It was "November Rain" (that year, our homecoming game just happened to fall in November). Not very upbeat -- and believe it or not, they never played the song!
