Poll question: Low Carb Diet... Passing Fad or Good Sense Plan?
Okay, everywhere I look I see low carb this and low carb that. They're making low carb BEER for Odin's sake! Personally, I think if you're worried about the number of carbs in your beer (i.e. it is enough a part of your diet that you need worry about it), maybe you have a drinking problem. In any case, anyone else think this thing has gone too far?

3. Oh man this is such a dangerous diet, young people are being...
...mislead by this. It will kill you! Balance is the key, eat regular meals and exercise. We've forgotten the basic food groups or maybe just have stopped teaching our kids the right nutrition to follow.

Popular low-carb diets dangerous

Thursday 24 June 2004, 2:29 Makka Time, 23:29 GMT

Americans have been misinformed on eating healthy

Popular low-carbohydrate diets are leading to poor health and are spawning a rip-off industry of "carb-friendly" products, say health experts and consumer advocates.

They announced a new group on Tuesday, called the Partnership for Essential Nutrition, to help educate Americans about the need for healthy carbohydrates such as vegetables, fruits, beans and whole grains.

"When unproven science becomes a sales pitch, some people get rich and the rest of us get ripped off," Jeffrey Prince of the American Institute for Cancer Research told a news conference.

i think it's really dangerous. people are going to get bored w/ the roughage & greenery & clog arteries w/ the cholesterol that will become their mainstay.

as whistle said; moderation, balance & reasonable exercise.

6. All hunter-gatherers live a low carb lifestyle.
As did all of mankind for tens of thousands of years before the coming of agriculture. With Agriculture came simple carbs in quantities far exceeding anything seen before.

The induction phase of Atkins is not a good long term diet. I think it's a bad idea. But low carb doesn't have to mean that you eat gross amounts of protein. The diet man evolved eating is based around fruits, veggies and small amounts of protein. Man didn't eat bread, pasta, sugar, white stuff until very recently in his history.
