Is it true that Micheal Moore has recieved death threats?
I heard yesterday on AAR from Janeane Garrofalo that some whore from CNN said after his press confrence, "A lot of people would like to see him(MM) deads." Is there anything to this.

1. Oh, I'm sure he has...
look at all the whackjobs he's been pissing off since "TV Nation".

And his discussion board went down do to DOS attacks.

All these RW nuts believe absolutely in the right to Freedom of Speech, unless, of course, it's a statement to which they don't agree. Then it's open season...

3. Yes, sadly, he has.
It's sad that MM cannot voice his opinion freely in this country without getting death threats.

Obviously, some don't understand that he has freedom of speech.

4. Right wingers are nut jobs with guns
I'm sure that they have threatened everyone that goes against their "man" and their crazy beliefs.

Moore has to look over his shoulder everywhere he goes now.

6. Making a MARTYR of Moore would be very, very foolish of the right wing
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 02:00 AM by NEOBuckeye
Just think of what Moore's death would do to galvanize the left, much more beyond what he's already accomplished via F911? It would validate virtually everything he has confronted the Bushes/right-wing/neocons with so far, and would prove in the eyes of many that they have a great deal too much to hide and will stop at nothing -- or no one -- to keep things covered and their sorry asses in power.

Moore should definitely keep up his security detail for as long as he plans to produce movies like F911 -- and especially if he gets around to making the movie he promised about Peak Oil -- but I don't think he has to worry too much.

7. Why are RW'ers so fond of death threats?
We disagree with and even dislike Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, Drudge or any one of a hundred other Republican media figures who want nothing less than destruction of the opposition (us). Yet they never have to live in mortal fear.

There is a certain type of mind that needs an enemy. Their obsession turns to hatred and hatred turns to violence. This type of mind is the Republican mind. Let's not forget that these right wing threats all too often turn real and thus the need to take them seriously.

Remember the climate of hatred toward Bill Clinton? Take a moment to recall the nutty Freeper who flew an airplane into the White House. It seemed like a footnote at the time - but how would that action play now? Also, think back to the Limbaugh groupie who decided free speech was firing an assault rifle into the west wing.

There are certain people on the right who are prone to political violence. Michael Moore should take these threats at face value and be careful. As for the CNN commentator you mentioned; her comments should be interpreted as a statement of fact.

11. It wouldn't be at all surprising.
They are notoriously unstable. And they have no problem with sending over 900 American soldiers who never did them any harm to their deaths, so why would they not want to harm someone who is a successful Democrat?
