Man Attacked By Alligator Gets Arrested One Day Later
<snip>

TAVARES, Fla. -- An 11-foot alligator attacked a man pulling weeds along the shore of Lake Eustis, but the man got loose with a punch to the reptile's nose.

Guy R. Daelemans, 43, of Mount Dora suffered two puncture wounds and a laceration to his left thigh and knee in Tuesday's attack, said Lake County sheriff's Lt. Todd Luce. Daelemans taken to Florida Hospital-Waterman, where he received antibiotics before being released.

A trapper summoned by wildlife officials later caught the 385-pound alligator, which was then killed.

After the injury, came the insult: Daelemans was arrested Wednesday on charges of grand theft and failure to return leased property.

Daelemans allegedly didn't return a water pump and hose to a Leesburg rental center, Luce said. He's also accused of taking money from a homeowner to build a boat dock, then failing to finish the job.

He was arrested under a warrant that was processed Tueday and was being held in jail on $50,000 bond.

3. Question, are gators the sharks of 2004?
I guess shark attacks were not getting enough attention so now it's gator attacks.

7. We've had 2 shark attacks recently on the Texas Gulf Coast.
Near Houston, that is. One girl is OK, a boy will probably keep his arm although they're not sure how well his hand will work.

Neither is as bad as the vibrio infections picked up by several people--just from being in the water with cuts or scratches. Descriptions of the symptoms include the words "flesh eating". One guy has had both legs amputated & is in "guarded" condition.

Some of our marshier suburban areas are reputedly unsafe for little fluffy pets--alligators lived there first & still live there.
