Anyone here remember the private lounge they use to have at DU |
|
This was a long time ago when they first started DU. They had a private underground for known members of DU. I think the reason I made my first donation to DU (which was only $10) was just so I could get into that private lounge (I think it was Yang who entered in the same day I got in there).
Well, I guess some freeper got a membership in there and all hell broke lose and the private room was disbanded.
Anyone here remember that DU private room or was a member??

No, not the secret gallery for pictures |
|
It was probably about 3 years ago that the thing was here, so it's an oldtimer thing!

and I also remember the day the big event happened and it was closed down by Skinner because of infiltration. Seems someone from the freepathetic FR was bragging about it on line.

3. I have been in a Private Lounge or two... |
|
In my day. On the other hand, what occurred in said lounges, while I was there, is not fit for telling in the company of decent folks. ;-)

4. I was a member back in 2001 and the beginning of 2002 |
|
I changed my Internet service and I lost my password.
Some of us have come back from 2001 & 2002 when the board first began and we had a private room.
When I find my old password I will log in again and say :hi: but until then I am WinterStorm.
I felt like I was having a breakdown because of the stolen election and under my Doctors advice I had to pull myself away from politics for a while (2 years).
When I joined there was less then 2000 members and now there are so many people.

it went private so DU could see, which the registered members were the dedicated ones against what happened in our 2000 election being a selected president by the supreme court decision.
Those who registered started the DU that has grown to the present it is now with the many with the start of a dedicated few!
In fact the other day I found my post Congratulating DU, I happen to have a copy of it, and glad I did since that private forum disappeared for the good of all because we started to form a unity that is determined to reach for our dreams and keep hope alive!
Here's my post with 171 posts to my name... dated January 30th, 2001 9:36am "CONGRATULATIONS Democrat-Underground! Great web-site!"
Hi Skinner, First I must congratulate you and your staff for a great job putting this together. Your genius creativity of putting this together for us Democrats. When the nation is so divided over this election, alot of pain and anger toward the way it was done. You have, for me brought healing with the Democratic_Underground because I feel we as one Democratic Party needs this unity, so very much!! Being able to read up on others, their opinions and feelings as well express my own opinions and feelings.
The day of the appointed President was sworn in, I refused to put on the TV...I was angry about the whole situation. I kept up with it like everyone else before that decision. But about the time, I really justed wanted to see the protesters, so I put the TV on MS NBC. The first thing that caught my eye was your banner...I quickly wrote it down. It wasn't long before I was checking it out! (I'm just thankful I did.)
I really enjoyed reading your ups and downs of getting this underground off the ground. Hats off to you to you all!
Again Congratulations!

Now knowing
Of course the DU administration is three guys that you can't help but love, look at the dedication from the start of Jan.20th 2001 to today with the last day of the 2004 Democratic Convention where tonight John Kerry gives his acceptance speech as our nominee for President of the United States!
Together in spirit celebrating the hopes and dreams that everyone will successfully see in their own lives after John Kerry is sworn in Jan. 2005! Hope Is On The Way My DU Friends!

8. Yeah, but I wasn't a cool kid... |
|
...so I couldn't hang out with the other cool kids.
That guy's name, the disruptor, it started with the letter "O", and he was a mod for the Guns forum. At least that's what I recall. No one wold talk about it, and, as I mentioned, I wasn't good enough for the private forum. Not that I'm still bitter 3 1/2 years later or anything. ;)

hearing about it. I never knew much more than that there had been one. I joined in September of 2002 (after lurking for several months) right before my brothers illness so I really didn't get kicked into this place until January 2003 after his death. I have no idea when it was shut down but I do remember hearing about it.
