What kind of band is Everclear?
The lead singer (Art?) was on with Blitzer. He is a delegate for Oregon he was very smart and cool. How is his music?

5. I don't like them, but I wouldn't go that far......
Basic mid 90's mainstream alternative rock.

I don't like it, but I wouldn't call it bubblegum.

14. To me, 90s mainstream alternative rock
Is bubble gum. At least 90 percent of it anyway. But you right, maybe not bubble gum in the Britney Spears sense.

3. they have not had a hit in while
remember the song "we can live beside the ocean...something something.....swim past the breaker, and watch the world die"

another one went
"of father of mine...."

I would call them pop-rock.

4. Very personal, filled with social and cultural commentary
Father of Mine - song about an adult son confronting the father who abandoned him

Another song - can't remember the title - about the effects of divorce on a child, from a child's point of view

Another song - again, can't remember the title - has a line - "people who say money is the root of all evil have never known the joy of a welfare Xmas"

6. One Decent album
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 12:12 PM by FrankBooth
which was sort of of neuvo-grunge (think 1995.) The band's popularity crashed and burned after their one big album (Sparkle and Fade) but Art is a pretty cool guy.

7. Kind of alt rock lite
I definitely wouldn't call them pop/bubble gum, since they actually sang about issues. Not bad, just depends on your taste. But they discussed parenting, drug use, suicide, and poverty in various songs. Certainly not Britney Spears like.

11. Most of their songs sound kinda the same...
But if you like the sound of one of their songs, it means you're in luck. I personally like them and would never compare them to hootie and the blowfish. Poprock hits it fairly well. Plus Art Alexakis (Sp?) is a pretty interesting figure, if I'm not mistake he was already 40 when Everclear hit it big, he had gone through the drugs and hard rockin life for god knows how long and not made it big time. Then somehow he sobered up got clean and started rocking. Plus he's testified before congress in support of dead beat dad law's I think. Their album So Much for the Afterglow had most of their biggest hits, if you're really interested give that a try.
