Thanks, it's nice to be back.
Yeah, like everybody said "Hey...where's trof?"
As if.
trof who?
;-)

Just back from a friend's wedding in Vernon, BC.
Beautiful, but hot. Topped out at 101 our last day there. Spent a lot of time in the motel pool. Liked the CBC. Wish I could get it on cable. Whole different way of covering the news, especially news of the lower 48. They just kind of tell you the facts about what's happening. Doesn't seem to be slanted, or shaded, or loaded with loaded words. Interesting way to do it. Wonder if it could catch on down here?
Nah...probably not.

Canadians pretty much like US, just not Bush*. I like that about a people.

Stopped off in Seattle to see some friends and family on the way home. Got there Sunday, so have been able to catch a lot of the convention coverage. Nobody told me about all the hills. Steep hills. In Seattle, not the convention.
Learned it's very difficult to soak knees in an ice bucket. Had salmon for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Also for hors d'ouvres. Ever had a salmon smoothie? Not bad. I drew the line at the Salmon Sundae.

Each meal was washed down with a large Starbuck's coffee. There seem to be a lot of their shops in Seattle. Like on every corner. Like all four corners on a single block. Them Seattlelites are STOKED! Everybody's on a caffeine high, just from the aroma.

I could see the Space Needle from my hotel, but didn't get around to making the trek over. Going through security at the airport, I found out I was supposed to get my passport stamped there, but they were very nice about it and let me leave town anyway. Maybe next time.

Two-year-old grandson Jack (Aw c'mon...you KNEW there'd be a Jack story somewhere in here, didn't you?) and mommy and daddy went with us. When Miz t. and I parted company with them at SeaTac he cried. That's a first, and very gratifying. I think we've finally bonded. When his bunch got off the airplane at Logan, he looked around and said "Where Gigi, Baba? (That's Miz.t and me.) See...the last time he saw us was at the airport, so...he naturally figured that at the airport again...

Saw all the convention photos posted by Elad, Skinner, et al. Now that I see how young they are I ain't taking any more crap off of them. Whippersnappers. ;-)

So...what'd I miss around here besides you guys?

4. I saw 2 Starbucks in Seattle that were separated by only four other shops
And that didn't count all the other coffee shops on that block.

Too bad you didn't make it to the Space Needle. The views from it are magnificent, especially getting on towards sundown.

And welcome back.

I'm glad you enjoyed your time away. Wasn't there an illness in the family that you were concerned about? How did that turn out?

20. Uncle Tom died 2 days before we left.
I was going to go to the funeral (700 mile drive) while Miz t. went on the trip, but my cousins (his children) convinced me that I should go to the wedding and the rest. We're all getting together at his house (before it goes on the market) for a good family cook-eat-drink-talk-rememberance over the Labor Day week-end.
Thanks for asking.
:hi:
p.s. See? Dems got family values too.
Yes they do.
