Cartoon Network looking at some BOONDOCKS |
|
The Hollywood Reporter claims that Cartoon Network is close to closing a deal with Sony Pictures Television that would see a half-hour animated series based on the newspaper strip THE BOONDOCKS on the network. Created by Aaron McGruder, THE BOONDOCKS is about two Chicago kids that move from the big city to the suburbs to live with their grandfather. It's adult humor and politically charged themes make it an ideal candidate for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming. http://www.cinescape.com/0/editorial.asp?aff_id=0&this_cat=Television&action=page&type_id=&cat_id=270355&obj_id=42194

that would be something
macgruder is the most relevant cartoonist out there and this would elevate him into the top tier of names, where he deserves to be
hope it doesn't lose its political edge in the transition, though

The artist does an amazing retro (Thurber?) style strip. And his take off of Big Brother & The Holding Company's 'Cheap Thrills' album cover was one of my favorite Sunday strips ever. The artist has also used the Stone's tongue logo to great effect. Just because it's not political or topical doesn't mean it's not worth reading. Quite frankly I do need the occasional light hearted diversion since I spend way too much time stressing out on politics as it is.
'Get Fuzzy' is also great.

Earl, Mooch, Crabby, Shtinky, Sourpuss et al. provide cool light-hearted fare--I love it. Also forgot Get Fuzzy--Bucky cat is soooo evil yet pathetically funny and stupid (kinda like the Chimp).
