I'm bummed. I want to live in a SWING state, with all the excitement and door to door canvassing and all the excitement and shit.

Humph. Here I am stuck in a state where it's presumed not to matter. But I tell you what--you guys watch the percentages on the red states this time around, I think they are going to be surprising.

I'm in TX, where's the nearest swing state??? Maybe I could actually go there on a weekend and help out???

4. Congressional Races

I live in the state north of you that sucks enough to keep Texas from falling into the Gulf, so I feel your pain. :-)

I'm concentrating on Congress. It keeps me motivated. If I lose that, I'll just move to Virginia. :-)

6. That is the key...
if your state is hard gw* then concentrate on a congressional race.

If you have a good candidate(s) Kerry might be able to supply tailcoats that makes those races winnable or close enough.

And if they become winnable or close that could mean that takes away from gw*s campaign and force them to expend time, energy and money in Texas or another state.

Just have to get enough people involved in different ways.

5. swing state blues
Maybe Texas will be a swing state in the future...seems like the Bush family might have reached the end of the political road for now.

7. You can still help
I've been asking Texans to write letters to the editor to newspapers in the swing states.

Tell them what Bush did to texas!

8. Work on getting Dems into other elected offices
There's Congress, the state legislature, whatever state offices are up this year.

People sometimes forget how important the "down ballot" races are, because those local officials often have a lot more to do with the quality of one's daily life than the president does.

9. I got you all beat....
Try living in Idaho, and not only that, I am a little over an hour from Utah, and very close to Wyoming-I am surrounded by conservatives, yikes! However, the city I live in is the most liberal and usually votes around 50-50, so it isn't too bad.

11. Louisiana, Arkansas, and New Mexico -- I was a TX Clinton voter
There's also a LOT of other elections where you can make a difference!

And I STILL campaigned for Clinton '92 when I lived in Texas. Don't give up the fight!

13. I'm actually surprised
to find that I now live in a swing state. It was hopelessly for Bush in 2000 (Tennessee) so I know how that feels, but from everyting I've seen it is leaning slightly towards Kerry at the moment.
