My neighbor's cat
is meowing piteously outside my bedroom window right now. I wish I could just take him in. He's such a sweet, friendly gray tabby with huge green eyes. He's gorgeous.

He deserves to be inside right now, on someone's lap having his ears scritched and chin rubbed, not outside :( He always comes over to me whenever I see him, and talks to me when I pet him.

1. Why can't you take him in?

3. Because it belongs to my neighbor
I really don't know them very well, and I don't know if they'd take kindly to letting their cat into my house. I don't know if they keep him current on shots, either, or if he's been neutered, heartworm medications, flea treatments, etc. I just wish they'd let him in every once in awhile. I always see him outside, and he's out all night, so I think they keep him outdoors only. But it's clear that he wants to be in where people are.

8. The butcher thought my cat, Nestor, belonged to him.
Nestor was gregarious and knew what every house in the neighborhood was serving.

Cats cannot be owned.

9. True
I don't want to get off on the wrong foot with new neighbors, though. I'll continue to give him attention whenever I seem him and feel my neighbor out on how she would feel about it.

2. Take him in. He obviously has good taste in giving his love to you. Cats
are very choosy. Consider yourself honored. Seriously.

4. get to know them...
my cats go over to my neighbors all the time, and theirs come over here. I even gave a few of her cats who really liked it here magnets on their collars to use my cat door. It's nice to have guest kitties.

5. I'll certainly try
She's very unfriendly, and a little bit snooty, but I'll make the effort.

Everyone is so snooty in my neighborhood. I was so excited about buying the house and meeting the people here. We all knew each other in the neighborhood I grew up in, and looked after each other like family. It's definitely not like that here.

or newcomer's organization in your community.. we moved a lot, and I had 3 kids under 5, so I was not that mobile.. Those organizations are great because they are comprised of "new" people just like YOU :)

So we're all new, really. I'll check on it, though. :)

11. PM me with your town and I'll do a little research..
Those organizations SAVED me.. I met some wonderful Moms with kids the ages of mine..

I even started a babysitting co-op, so we could all have free babysitting and "time off"..
