City's NUDE Potluck A Bust - No "Unclothed Genitals"
Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 08:37 AM by matcom
<snip>

ASHLAND, Ore. -- The nude potluck was a bust. Someone in Ashland has been distributing fliers inviting people to a nude potluck in Lithia Park.

It was an apparent response to the city council's passage of a law prohibiting "unclothed genitals."

But the people in the park kept their clothes on Thursday. Park Patrol Officer Lisa Evans said she did see one young topless woman on a city street. Since toplessness isn't illegal in Ashland, the bare-breasted woman wasn't busted.

But Evans said she stood next to her until the woman went away. She said her police uniform has that effect on people.

6. Those laws are to protect nursing mommies.
There have actually been some poor women charged, harrassed, etc. for feeding their babies. :thumbsdown:

4. This part bothers me...
...she stood next to her until the woman went away. She said her police uniform has that effect on people.

So even though toplessness isn't illegal, and I'm assuming the woman in question wasn't doing anything unruly, Officer Evans decided it was OK to intimidate her (just standing around in her cop suit) until the young woman left. Cute.

Could've been worse, I guess... at least she wasn't pepper-sprayed.
