Thief Steals Mayor's Brand New Lexus

Walnut Creek Mayor Charlie Abrams got quite a rude awakening Thursday.

He awoke to find a thief had elected to steal his brand-new dark blue 2004 Lexus from his driveway. Abrams, the 63-year-old owner of a traffic engineering firm, had bought his dream car in April with "all the bells and whistles," said his wife, Janet.

"It wasn't supposed to be able to be stolen," she said. "The man is very depressed."

And police investigators have a chance to make quite an impression at City Hall.

And I wonder if it will turn out he left his keys in the car.

2. You'd think he would have heard the bells jingling the whistles blowing

as the car went down the street. Perhaps he should look into a better theft deterrant system, but that that's just me.
