Department of DU Rumors: Rod Paige to resign? |
|
From the Tinfoil Undies division: I've read on 3 boards that U.S. Sec. of Ed. is going to resign! Have any of you heard this?
It would make sense on a number of levels: 1. In the "rational world": Paige blows. Any sane person would demand his resignation, election year be damned. He pulled an Enron with the Texas Miracle of Unmitigated Horseshit, and he is the most anti-education Sec. of Ed. ever! For the love of crumbcake, he is in charge of public education and yet promotes privatizing it -- hey, Rod, leave those kids alone.
2. From the "this helps Bush" faction: Hey, maybe Bush will get a bounce from attacking the boneheads in his administration, too!
3. From the "rats paddling like mad in their little inner tubes" division: LOL. Whose next over the side?

me and my terrorist colleagues will be soooooo happy!
And your question about who is next? I clicked on a link from another post that said Tom Ridge, Dept. of Homeland Security head is thinking about stepping down. I will try to post it if I find it again.

I'm trying very hard to join your ranks -- but Chicago is a tough market, especially for LA teachers. Please refrain from commenting on the legion of grammatical errors to be found in my posts.

... and a vote that's fair, none of them will be coming back next year. :P
I think that's one of the biggest talking points yet to be exploited--it's not just Bush, it's all of the people around him who have helped to cause the problems we now face. Get rid of Bush and they're gone, too.
But, rumors I've read include Rumsfeld, Ridge, now Paige, and, I think, Powell's absence is a foregone conclusion at the end of the term, no matter what. People like Chao and Ashcroft will have to be dragged out of their offices, kicking and screaming (I am imagining the scheming going on in Ashcroft's little pea brain right now in the event that Bush loses, fair and square).
My next candidate would be Mineta--he's going to have a difficult time salvaging his reputation after the 9/11 reports and voluntarily working for the worst president in US history. Quitting might help with that.
Cheers.
