6. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, |
|
catchup (first citation 1690) predates ketchup (1711) and catsup (1832). Only "ketchup" is used now in Great Britain, while both it and "catsup" are in use in North America.
So, I guess it's a matter of every man choosing his own poison or sauce, as the case may be.

they're still using something god-awful called "salad cream"--they don't know jack about condiments!
on edit= "ketchup, catsup"... Who's NOT thinking of Mr. Burns right now?

8. Now that The Leader wants us to hate the French, |
|
we'll have to take our marching orders from the English from now on when it comes to cooking and food.

|
Do you really want to put something called 'brown sauce' on your food?

11. Only those brainwashed by the French would object to |
|
salad cream and brown sauce.
Being finicky about food hurts the war effort. Our English comrades in arms have scarfed down millions of pounds of rotten chicken as of late without complaint, turning, I dare say, a good profit for the PM and his friends. I would like to see the French do that!
No, we must follow the Leader and his faithful deputy Little Tony in everything. We are at war, after all.
