I just sent the following email to JFK
As I life long Democrat I am proud to support John Kerry and John Edwards to lead this country away from the failed policies of the last nearly 4 years. After watching last night, however I feel a special bond with John Kerry which I feel compelled to relate.

In 1992 I worked as an administrator with the Mississippi State Hospital. One afternoon my eldest daughter (age 12)called me at work about an emergency at home. She was hysterical. I couldn't tell what the problem was, but I rushed home.

When I arrived both of my daughters were in the kitchen by the (and I swear this is true) hamster cage. One of my daughters hamsters was giving birth. The young mother would have nothing to do with the tiny offspring, and the father (?) was eating them.

I first removed the hamster with canabalistic tendencies. However, the mother would still not nurse her young.

With my daughters innocent faces staring up at me for a miracle, I knew I had to do something., because by that time there weren't too many newborn hamsters left and of thse that were, some had already died.

So I held the mother in one hand on her back while I gently picke up the peanut sized newborns and attached them to their mothers faucets . er, teats. This seemed to have little effect. (I swear this is true )

As I recall, all of the little peanuts died of either starvation, cold, or possibly being forcibly attached to their mother.

As you might guess, the mother hamster was not too enamoured with this whole process. It was then I realized that, in an effort to hold the mother hamster still so I could perform this delicate bonding operation, I had accidentally squeezed the thing a little too tight.

The poor little thing stopped squirming and was absolutely still. I couldn't tell if she was in shock, playing possum, or had actually had the tiny hamster breath squeezed out of her.

Again, their little faces - pleading. "Daddy make it be alive."

What's a fatner to do?

I administered CPR. After all, I was an administrator at a psychiatric hospital and had just completed my CPR refresher course. I even administered mouth to mouth (I swear to God!)

Maybe I saved her tiny hamster life through my daring and quick action. Maybe she just woke up. Anyway, the hamster lived.

In my final year of college I sought to join the Navy, but didn't get in because I had broken my ankle in a soccer game and noe it was held in place by a brass screw. I do not, therefore, qualify for the band of brothers that are veterans. However, on that fateful day in 1992 I joined an even more exclusive club with John Kerry and will forever be proud to be joined with him in that small band of fathers.

1. Hamster Dads for Kerry!
Sweet story. The reason Dads are always heroes in their daughters' eyes.

2. Good story but...
If Kerry and Edwards ever come to your city, they're going to have security be on the look-out for the weird hamster-kissing dude. ;)

Just kidding.
