My father died this morning

It was expected. He had a stroke about a year and a half ago. A couple of days ago he started running a fever. This morning he was having trouble breathing.

I'm kind of in shock, I guess.

I read your other thread in the meeting room and have spent the last 20 mins. looking for a comic strip I had pinned to my task light before we moved, I guess I have lost it.

Any way, the message of the strip was as such, (paraphrasing of course):

weird, I was thinking of my dad all day and talking to a friend who is just now coming to the realization of the mortaility of her dad... that was a sad conversation but cleansing for her to a certain extent.

My dad has been gone 6 years now and was on my mind so much the last few days, now I see you have lost yours. I'm sorry for your loss even if you knew it would happen, it's still hard. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers for quick emotional healing for you and your loved ones.

It's like being hit by a freight truck when it happens so suddenly. The day my mother died, I woke up that morning thinking she was as healthy as she'd ever been. At that very moment, she was already laying in the living room floor dead.

my best girlfriend lost her dad 2 yrs ago- he was only 60-it's such a shock even if one is "expecting" it. Let others help you and do things for you-they want to and wouldn't have offered if not.
