Barbecue Brisket
I will be doing my first Brisket on Sunday. Who here has that killer recipe for a rub and a mop that I recall seeing a while back-

Could you post it again

(Sorry I am not ignorant of punctuation--My question mark key is broken)

1. Bobby Flay's smoked brisket.
I've tried it - a friend made this recipe and it was good. :9

5. that episode cracked me up. He assembled his smoker incorrectly
(in a way that would have smothered the fire) and somehow his huge 8 lb or whatever brisket was done in 5 hours---rather than the 12+ a real Q-er knows it takes to get it tender.

Hoo boy.

3. I'm bbqing a brisket right now! and a small pork butt too
Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 09:18 PM by soothsayer
I'm using a sample brisket rub I got from texasbbqrub.com (it's the new brisket rub they're about to release---it's really tasty!). But usually I use this simple one:

1/8 cup salt
1/8 cup black pepper
1/8 cup paprika
1 TBSP granulated garlic powder
1 tsp dry mustard

Some folks add accent (MSG) but I don't. Later, when it's halfway thru the cook (and then halfway again, and halfway again, etc.) I spray it with apple juice. Good stuff!

Great info at this site http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/cook.html

On edit, I am trying the pork butt with old bay seafood spice as the rub....!
