55. It took me 3 1/2 years to decide to post.

mopaul said something about "rebels" in a thread 2 months ago, so I felt compelled to say something for the first time. I was a bit disappointed when he didn't even welcome me, but perhaps he went offline for a while. Like you, I cannot type. My two-fingered technique has expanded to 4 fingers and the thumb on the space bar. It probable took me 10 minutes just to type this.

I was reading buzzflash.com soon after they stole the election and found a link to DU through the "Top Ten Conservative Idiots" and was addicted ever since. I have learned 30 years worth of political history in 3 1/2 short years. I credit DU for getting me up to speed and ahead of the curve. Now, poli-sci students and professors ask me questions all the time at the local cafe.

There used to be about 10 people up all night. Each of us used to have a "forum" that we posted in. I was one of the early newsjunkies.

You could actually go 45 minutes during a night before a new post was published in the old days. Now just look at how fast the threads go late night. It's all been because of all of us. (Big hugs to all the 10%ers!)

before i found DU i felt very alone and rightened by the direction our country was headed.

when i saw the media had morphed into the jerry springer show while i ws busy working and try'n to raise a family. i didn't really look at the teeVee news before but after 12-12-2000 i went to them to see what they were gonna say about it and i discovered FAUX :puke: i was fit to be tied ans like MM was not gonna take it anymore.

anyways, much apologies for my rash, brash and incoherent ravings back then but i am sure glad i found DU :bounce:

but when I posted my feelings (along with a warning in the title line) about seeing F 9/11, the owner of the site showed her true colors, pitched an absolute melodramatic HISSY fit, all her bushie friends came out of the woodwork and pitched their own little cry-fests and I left, because that is frigging ridiculous. On a site that presumes to say that people aren't censored, etc.

What the hell ever. Too much melodramatics at that place anyway. So I got completely addicted to DU at that point (about a month ago).

45. It actually took me a little while.

I considered myself a liberal but at first, the board sounded downright radical to me. I was very active on two other boards, a diet board and a Marine parent board. Neither supposedly allow politics but the Marine parent board allowed conservative views all the time, under the guise of patriotism. Since I was a moderator, I had to read all that crap knowing that my dissenting views would not be allowed.

So I gave DU another chance and came to love it! I spend WAY too much time here but it is so gratifying to hang with, for the most part, like-minded folks. And either I've become more radical or those radical people left because I feel like I fit right in! :toast:

Couldn't stand the pro-repuke bias in the media and began combing search engines for "anti-Bush" sites. Came across BushWatch, Bartcop, Media Whores Online, and DU. Felt like I had entered a parallel universe, and I've never left. Took me about a minute to get addicted. Duers are among the smartest, most politically savvy people on any site.
