A large pick-up truck with an American flag sticker
I saw a HUGE pick-up truck with a "Re-Defeat W in '04" sticker on it, near its American flag decal, which proves you should always be VERY CAREFUL when stereotyping people and their vehicles.

Except Hummers. If you drive one of those, you are a Bush-sucking freeper scumhole. And Cadillac SUV's. You also suck dead rooster entrails and want to be Lynne Cheney's love slave if you drive one of those. Or a Lexus SUV, which means you have photoshopped porn of Condi Rice and Lynndie England holding Laura Bush with a leash all over your hard drive.

But this is about the cool guy in the pick-up with the flag decal and the anti-Bush sticker.

1. Where does my GMC Suburban with the Kerry Sticker
and DU sticker fit in this scenario?

*eyes you warily*

As long as you haul LOTS of model trains in it, I may let you off the hook with a mild scolding.

4. Oh yeah, the model train club modules fit well
as do jukeboxes, pinballs, etc. that I occasionally liberate from their previous owners. Plus '58 Olds car parts.

and yes, 8 or 9 carless Dems will fit well.

2. Yeah, I drive an SUV.
Admittedly an older one, but I'm sick of having the bird flipped at me just because of what I drive.

I can fit five carless leftie protestors in my truck!

26. But, do you use it, really?
Do you regularly go into primitive road areas, like work in the country or something? that's one thing, but someone who buys a gas-guzzler just to show off that they can annoys me. Doesn't sound like you're doing that from the description.

28. Yes, I do use it offroad...
but I kind of don't understand why that's anyone else's business. SUVs are the latest scapegoats for everything wrong with driving. They're no worse than muscle cars or much worse than any cars in general. All are destroying the environment and creating dangerous traffic conditions. The difference between a Prius and an H2 is just a matter of hair-splitting degrees.

31. Well, they do both use gas, and we need to get away from that
Edited on Sat Jul-31-04 05:39 PM by EstimatedProphet
but I think there's a lot of anger with people (myself included) who go out of their way to use the most consumptive vehicle they can find, just to show they can do it. Oil is in short supply. there's no point to doing this. Muscle cars use a lot of gas too, and some others do too, but there's not the same push in keeping up with the Joneses to get them, and what drives that push is the idea of getting the biggest SUV just to show that you can.
My original point was that most of the cars on the road today do have a use, and if you do a lot of work where you need a 4 wheel drive, then you need a 4 wheel drive, period. No one complains about garbage trucks, but they use far more gas than SUVs. However, if what you're going to do is run around town with the kids, then why not consider gas mileage and get a minivan? It's time we started doing just that as a nation, because it will make a difference.

Is that OK? Actually, I have been seeing a lot of Kerry stickers on fancy cars, too, which is nice. Shows that even the well-off can have a brain stem.

30. Bad news about the old Yak!
A couple of months ago I went out to milk my Yak and it was gone! I put it's picture up everywhere and still no Yak! I was just about ready to buy a cow when the Sheriff called and said he found my Yak! He said they busted a ring of Freeper Yak rustlers and found my "Maybelle"!

When she came back here she was all sullen and withdrawn and wouldn't eat, so I took her to the Yak Doktor! My Maybelle is in the motherly way was the Doktor's verdict! Violated by some Moran Freeper fundie preacher the DNA tests showed! I just traded my Maybelle off for 29 head of goats! I'm shattered!

She's Bovine...err...so fine!

23. Why would anyone ever drive a Cadillac SUV?
Or a Lexus SUV either?
When SUV's came out, the were for off-road and utility use, i.e. Sport Utility Vehicle. These suburban doofoids that use them for going to the store are crazy. Why spend twice as much money on gas than is necessary, just to do it?

to a lot of people for buying those barges. Buy a $50,000 Escalade and you may get about $19,000 back from Uncle Sam; even at today prices that will buy you a lot of gas.

It seems like most people down here have big cars, big hair, big houses...regardless of political ideology. Granted there are definitely exceptions to this rule, but it's still funny to me.

34. How about a small pickup truck?
I just turned my 2nd Toyota over to my youngest son. I'm hoping for a new one next month.

The 1st, a '79, did 350,000 miles, 2 years of high school with the oldest son, and 2 years of high school with the younger before he crashed it into a hill and bent the frame. The engine, 5 years after the crash, is running equipment at a construction yard.

The 2nd, a '94, did 215,000 miles and is still running great. We're doing a family car/switch. I'm getting the new little truck, my youngest is getting the old truck, and his older brother is taking over payments on the 97 honda civic, bought used a couple of years ago and almost paid off.

My small truck manages dirt roads, desert floods, winter snows, desert arroyos, carries feed, has hauled water, dirt, and rocks...does everything but haul my horses. I have to find a friend with a big truck for that.

a Ford F-150 with Texas plates, a big ol' American flag decal, and several stickers having to do with the units he served in in the Army, and a Texas A&M Association of Former Students sticker.

Then a big ol' blue Kerry Edwards 2004 sticker.

It confuses the SHIT out of people, you can SEE it.

with democraticunderground.com and Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers. The bumper stickers are worth more than the truck. It's an '89 Isuzu pick up that has seen much better days. Does this make me an oddity or just your average Dem?
