My back is killing me, my feet are sore and I have a sunburn...but

I have never felt more connected to my democracy than I did today.

Canvassing for votes. I posted in GD about this if you are interested. Some of today was very depressing but some of it was wonderful. I'm going to do this every Sunday until the election even if it kills me...and it probably will. Hot and sweaty...up and down hills...people slamming doors in my face...great exercise and weight loss program!

the guy who I was canvassing with had voted for Nader in 2000...he was doing penance! :-)

and thanks for all of your hard work. It's people like you who'll win this election for Kerry. It does give you a feeling of accomplishment, I know. I work the phones at our Democratic Headquarters several times a week. Let's keep up the good work all the way into November.

8. I slept on church benches during the "Dump Johnson" movement but

haven't done anything like this since and, obviously, I'm a little older!

My daughter got me a car seat cover that plugs into the cigarette lighter, heats up and vibrates so I can drive someplace and still walk when I get there! Gave her a big kiss, right after I smacked her upside of the head! (joking, joking, she is much too strong for me to smack.)

I am pumped! I have always loved a challenge and I am hellbent that I'm going to keep doing this. I think I turned 2 people today and I feel great about that. Next week 2 more and then 2 more and then 2 more. By inches we will win this...by inches! :hi:

5. Terrific, Raven....! Two big suggestions for you:

Get thee a nice crushable raffia hat (keeps you cooler, sun off your face and neck, and great hide for dirty, sweaty or otherwise "bad" hair days).

Get thee one of those neck scarfs with the crystals inside that when soaked, keep your neck noticeably cool.

Beyond the other obvious (good shooes, sun screen, strong sense of humor), these two items made the difference for me in past door-to-door summer canvassing. :toast:
