For those who aren't totally sick of the Convention posts,
please check out my convention blog (for those who don't know, I was a delegate for Washington state). I have some of my pictures posted there, and it's basically my journal of my convention experience.

comments welcome, but trolls will have theirs scrubbed away.

1. How does someone get to be a delegate?
I've always wondered that but never asked

2. It varies by state

Your best bet is to check with your legislative district chair, and start going to your precinct or legislative district meetings. That's where the rubber meets the road for local politics. The way it works in Washington state is that you run at the precinct caucus for legislative district delegate, then at the legislative district caucus for congressional district delegate, and then a small handful of people are elected at the congressional district caucus to National. At the state convention, the at-large delegates and PLEOs (Party Leaders and Elected Officials) are elected. They, along with all Democratic members of the U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and Democratic Governors, form the state delegation to the Democratic National Convention.

I was a first-time delegate, new to the whole process this year. It was quite a coup to be elected to National with no credentials to speak of.

3. There are several ways .
the most common is to run for delegate in your congressional district. You can also run as an at large delegate at your Democratic State Con'vention. And you can run as a Party elected odfficial if you are one of those.Usually Governors and congress peple are automatic delegates. But a lot of politics goes into this and rarely is it fair.
