What's your favorite band that none of your friends have heard of?
For me it's Yo La Tengo. I just got into them recently, and whenever I recommend them to someone they say something about how they don't really like salsa music, or that they thought the Latin Explosion ended, like, three years ago.

But they're a great band, and I defy anyone to listen to the song "Autumn Sweater" and not like it.

15. I've also been listening to a band called Good Charlotte.
They're a really good satirical band that makes fun of all those awful "neo-punk" bands by pretending to be one themselves. If they were for real they would suck horribly, but nobody writes songs like that and tries to pass them off as genuine.

18. The Leaving Trains
BOB HOPE (lyrics by Whitey Sims & spoken word lyrics by James/music by Falling James)

There he goes with his Roman nose -- Bob Hope
There he goes, he's solid gold -- Bob Hope

Look out, Ho Chi Minh, here he comes
with a bunch of bad jokes and his stupid grin
Ronny's friend, Johnny's friend, Tricky Dick's friend
and Eisenhower's friend

Wanna laugh at the apocalypse, talk to Bob Hope
Wanna sit over a beer and cigarettes, with Bob Hope
Get a bullet and your head for your heart, with Bob Hope
He's going to drag you down laughing in the end, Bob Hope

Here he is, out in Vietnam
Crawl back to Korea, there he was
World War II, road to Rio
Gonna take you out and put you in the battlefield

Wanna get yourself in a cast in a minute -- Bob Hope
He's got a bunch of cast of characters with him, Bob Hope
Brings his warmonger entertainment friends, Bob Hope
Always on the road with Brooke Shields and Natalie Cole

(spoken word section)
Ha, ha. How about that Army food? Ha, ha. I don't know, it's not like I don't really understand. Ha, ha. When I came here to Vietnam, I said to the generals, "Hey, I don't play to empty houses -- where are the rest of the soldiers? I don't care if they're fighting." Ha, ha. So the generals brought 'em in, and they came and they got real drunk, and they saw Ann Margret show off her legs. On the way home, I guess they got ambushed by those dirty criminals in the bushes, those communists. I slayed 'em, I slayed 'em!

He has the deed to the end of the world
He's not even American, for chrissakes! Bob Hope
Wanna get the lowdown on the end of the world, torture? Bob Hope
Wanna get the joke? Go ahead, it's Bob Hope
ha, ha

70. Cheese and Leftover are great.
My first Cheese show I got to meet Kang, and he autographed my poster. They are really down to earth.

75. Jane Siberry and Wally Pleasant
Jane a throw back to my blue hair too many peircings and angry yet deep college chic days. And Wally Pleasant is just Weird Al for stoners.

76. Nobody's Children - craziest Texas punk band ever
Did that great song "Good Times" with the insane fuzz guitar and his demented cackle. Ah, yes.

77. YO LA TENGO rocks my ass off.
I enjoy goddamn near every single song they've done. Every song, from their early lo-fi anthems to their chilled, soft lullabys, is amazing.

My favourite bands that I don't share with my friends include Wolf Eyes (noise), Kid 606 (glitch-electronica), Godspeed You! Black Emperor (minimalism), and Ms. John Soda (indie pop).

78. At one time I just about wore out an album by
Ultimate Spinach. Must have been a one shot wonder because as good as they were I could never find another album.
