Was high school a drug-filled haze for you?
Edited on Fri Aug-06-04 08:10 AM by ChavezSpeakstheTruth
It was for me. I didn't drink much but I have two words for you which show you why I got an 11 in chemistry my senior year:

+

Alas *sigh*

And I loved every minute of it! Went on to graduate from college Magna Cum Laude! I admit, sometimes we get our kids to spend the night at grandma's and relive the good old days! Not very often but partying is still fun to do from time to time.

It makes me wonder what I would do if I found pot in my kids bedroom. Would I get mad and tell them how bad it is or would I insist they just be responsible with their grades and extra-curricular activities? Hmmm... It isn't a bridge I will have to cross for several years but this post has me thinking.

9. Honest honesty honesty!!!
That's what my parents used and it worked (where they failed is real involvement in what I was doing) it ended up being a phase (a very important life affirming phase)

10. Honesty? Like how much mom and dad liked the green in High School?
Just kidding. My initial thought is if they are responsible, I will let them know I know what they are doing and if they screw up in school or start getting in trouble, they won't know what hit them. As long as they are responsible, I won't cause a fuss but that doesn't mean I approve. Wouldn't it be rather hypocritical to punish them for something I did when I was there age? I was responsible about it and would have to trust that they would be too. Trusting your children goes along way when they respect your trust and don't want to let you down!

26. My oldest is 8 so we have awhile.
I will just have to encourage my husband not to ask, "where did you get it?" In all honesty, he wouldn't do that but that doesn't mean the thought wouldn't cross his mind!

I fall back on trusting our kids to do the right thing.

and I suppose there is the anti-drug indoctrination thing, as well. Even though he goes to a progressive school, there is also that element.

16. Yeppers, it surely was
but I actually got out in '71 with a 3.0 average and missed over 50 days of my senior year. I had friends in Bluegrass country who had horses and weed grew along the pastures fence lines. All we had to do is pick our own. It wasn't particularly good (KY Blue), but it was free. I had a freaking great time in HS!

Edited on Fri Aug-06-04 09:06 AM by ChavezSpeakstheTruth
each one multiplying genetic resonancees in a grassy plot of land in the countryside. The birds chirp and rabbits romp in the slaughterhouse, caving in on itself, is plunged into a universe of fractions, 1/5, 7/9, 1/2000th the force of a moth in carbonite.

At least, that's what I've heard

19. Are you specifically referring to
...the dates between September of 1979 and June of 1983 (I did an extra year because I liked the idea of free education  )? Or do you mean just the days that I went to the school? Does summer vacation from school count? What exactly do you mean by "high school"?

28. Ah...ok
The generalized term for the ages of 15 thru 18 or thereabouts.
I will then have to answer the thread with: While attending school I distributed a lot more than I ingested. My drops of liquid and cigarette packs filled with rolled up grass made other's high school days more hazy than it made mine. (Although I was richer than they were)
Now outside of the institution, I ingested my fair share of each of everything I knew existed. It was a long strange trip, but those days are gone and I have fully recovered...I think.
