Update the story about George and the Cherry Tree for Today's World
Here's a reminder of the legend of George Washington, who admitted to cutting down the cherry tree:

Young George Washington
Would Not Tell a Lie
by Parson Weems

"George," said his father, "do you know who killed that beautiful little cherry tree yonder in the garden?"

This was a tough question; and George staggered under it for a moment: but quickly recovered himself: and looking at his father, with the sweet face of youth brightened with the inexpressible charm of all-conquering truth, he bravely cried out, "I can't tell a lie, Pa; you know I can't tell a lie. I did cut it with my hatchet."

"Run to my arms, you dearest boy," cried his father in transports, "run to my arms; glad am I, George, that you killed my tree; for you have paid me for it a thousand fold."

Your goal is to update the Cherry Tree story replacing one George for another. This time, it's George W. Bush chopping down the cherry tree.

I'm working on mine, when I'm done I'll be back to post more!

2. Little Georgie Porgie is walking out to the cherry tree, hatchet in hand.
Edited on Fri Jul-11-03 12:35 PM by greatauntoftriplets
God sees him coming and -- knowing the Texas Dauphin's penchant for lying as exhibited countless times in the past -- and sends down a lightning bolt, knocking down half of a large catalpa tree. Little Georgie is pinned under the tree and screams for help to get it moved. The elder George ultimately finds his # 1 son hours later, and takes him to the Colonial ER for treatment of a broken leg. Little Georgie forgets about hacking down the cherry tree.

On edit: You know Georgie has a short attention span.

4. Well, it has to involve neighbors from across the pond
whom he cons into helping him persuade his daddy that the tree was going to attack them. After that it gets into murky waters and is too sad for me to make something funny out of, sorry.
