12. Mom's on Concerta, she likes it |
|
But I keep harping on her to get her thyroid regulated, she might not need ADD or anti-deps.

for a few months. I didn't like the side affects and stopped. It did help me focus in ways that I rarely ever had before so it did what it was supposed to do.

5. How is Adderall different than Ritalin... |
|
Going back to my doc for check up and prescrip refill for Ritalin and have thought about switching to Adderall. What have you found to be the difference between the two?

6. Ritalin didn't last long enough for me |
|
even the extended version and I had pretty bad crashes when it wore off.
Adderall XR (Extended Release) keeps me even all day and addresses ALL my ADD symptoms. It has made a huge difference in my life - and I'm in my 50s!

I take adderall,,it's not extended release .I take less than perscribed. Because I don't need two pills.two pills are too much. Two pills feels bad to me. When I take one pill still I often forget to take it.
Anyways. I took ritalin for years , years ago in the early 70s.When I got to be a teen I was taken off the Ritalin. After ritalin my school performance went to straight f's.I think most of it was due to traumatic events, but some of it may have been ADD stuff.I dunno. I find adderall has made my insomniaI have had all my life quite a bit worse,it was bad anyway ...so I find If I want to sleep before the sun comes up,I have to take my pill before 1 pm.If I forget to take it and I find it's past 1 ,I just forget about taking it.
I have PTSD and Dissociative disorder. So my attention problems could be trauma induced. I have had problems with symptoms like ADD all my life. But I do find with the adderall I can control where my attention goes easier because I am more aware of it ,and I don't get as lost or overwhelmed.. and I find I am more aware of my own mental processes and I resolve issues faster rather than getting stuck and shutting down from being overwhelmed..I think adderall has helped some of the stress in a way I don't quite understand. I notice I do cope with multitasking and things in my life better,I startle less.
It's not a life altering difference or big improvement ,but it does make coping a little smoother.Adderall does nothing to fix anything in my life it just helps me reach enough of an equilibrium so the stress and distractions lessen a little and I have room to heal.
I hope to not be taking adderall forever,I hope I can overcome the stuff that is making my life so distracted,so I won't need a pill to help me anymore,I hope soon that I can just fix myself by myself. It's better not to take drugs if you don't have to.

8. My 12-year-old son takes it |
|
for ADD. But he mainly takes Strattera. Strattera is a new ADD medication that isn't a stimulant, and so doesn't destroy appetite. He takes a very tiny amount of Adderall to sort of jump-start the Strattera. (His doctor says that these medications often work best in combination.) Back when he only took Adderall, he had no appetite and became seriously underweight. He took Concerta for a short time when he was first diagnosed, but that stuff drove him crazy.

11. I'm a 22 year old that's taking Adderall. |
|
I've been diagnosed with ADHD when I was 13. I didn't start taking anything for it until earlier this summer. Ever since I've been on Adderall, I've had a lot of energy and I've been able to stay on task and think clearly.
It's the best thing I've ever done with my life to go on Adderall.

I was just curious about it. Was watching the MTV show about ADHD and I had never heard of Adderall. It sounds better than Ritilin.
