Attention UK DUers: Exceptionally stupid music question. |
|
Years ago, like maybe 1973 or 4, there was an instrumental song that got a wee little bit of airplay here in the States. It was called Eye Level. Since that was a time before I developed any "cool" tastes whatsoever, I loved it, but once it fell off the charts (which took about two weeks) I never heard it again.
Well, not until I found it on one of the music P2P networks.
Anyway, I also found out that the song was to a very long-running cop show called Van Der Velk. The show ran for five to 25 years, depending on who I talked to. I was also told if I so much as hummed the tune anywhere in the Commonwealth, I would be quickly dispatched by the super-secret MI-33&1/3 and my remains would be declared as dangerous as a teacup full of Mad Cow prions.
But my informants have all been much younger than me, and apt to hold very passionate attitudes on music. So, can anyone older (maybe over 28) and wiser (i.e., sober) tell me how my tastes in music will play in Merrie Olde? Can anyone in the UK and/or Ireland still listen to Eye Level and not lapse into a seizure?
Right. Very good. Thank you.

...to not walk around humming it here in the UK. On the other hand, probably just about anyone over the age of 40 would recognise it immediately, even if they couldn't remember what it was called or where it came from. Such is the power of crap television. Don't think it ran for more than 5 years, though.

and I have not got a clue about this one!
Now how about the Dr Who theme instead? I have a fantastic Orbital mix of that theme tune. :-)
