1. Neither. As an engineer, just let me say |
|
The glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Taking into account redundancy and safety margins, the glass is properly designed.

12. But the base is certainly over-engineered, |
|
assuming the vessel will be used to hold only water, or occasional ice + water, or other liquid/solic of approxiate density of water, at relatively standard temperatures and atmospheric pressures.
I think your safety margins may be far too generous, unless you are engineering for possible use by drunks or children, who might hold the glass at excessive tilt from the gravity vector, and/or move/hold the glass with sudden and possibly catastrophic shifts of acceleration and de-acceleration.

But I see room for improvement and am optimistic it can be done. If it were half full I wouldn't be as motivated.

6. Most likely half empty |
|
Most people don't fill a glass half full with water, so it is most likely that some of it has been drunk.

9. Heres the difference between an optimist and a pessimist |
|
A pessimist thinks the glass contains water while the optimist thinks it's gin.

13. To quote my Mother in Law |

Whether a glass is half full or half empty depends if you are pouring in or draining out.

By weight? What is the specific density of the liquid inside?
