3. Die sind zwei Berliner lol
I lived in Germany for the past 3 years ( I am back in America now ) and Berliners were my favorite snack the entire time I was there . Although the ones I had had more powdered sugar than the ones in the pic there .

12. Reminds me of the Monty Python skit--the funniest joke in the world!
SO funny, it was deadly! The English used it during WWII to win the war. The Germans couldn't come up with one as good. Then there's a shot of Hitler saying something in German, and it's translated as: My dog has no nose. How does he smell? Awful!

15. I left Germany back in 1998 after being there for four years.
I wasn't a big fan of German food (Except Berliners of course) but I did Doner kababs everywhere I went. I miss Turkish food the most, it reminded me a lot of Greek. Pardon for not answering in German, but it's been too long

21. Were you there for military stuff?
Just curious! Doner kebabs, good, good stuff. I'm amazed they're not all over the place over here yet... our loss, that. I didn't eat much Turkish food besides that, but loved what I had. And Greek food... oh, yum. The best cucumbers and tomatoes and cheese I've had in my life, I think. Gah... I think I need a trip back over there. Jonesin' for European food....

20. Ich fuehle dort auch zu Hause....
I really do miss Germany (and Europe, in general) several times, every day. A certain smell, a particular type of cloudy day, this, that or the other thing, always reminding me of being there. We talk some about trying to move back over there, a bit of a scary proposition, but I'd love for our daughter to grow up truly bilingual, with a more global perspective, you know? There is SO much that I miss about being there, it would take me ages to list it all, LOL. Some days I really feel like I will never feel 'home' again anywhere, after living there. I will always miss it, or miss the US, in some ways....

MMmmmm.... Milka. Actually, my fave is Ritter Sport, which is so commercial, it's terrible :9 But I love it. Actually just bought some this weekend at this great german store in Indianapolis. Yummy! And Spaetzle! And yeah, German McD's kicked way more ass than the US ones, in terms of cleanliness, service, and LMAO hysterical marketing!! Did you see any of the 1/2 english 1/2 german marketing stuff??!

24. Lucky!
I have a friend whose husband is in the military, that's where I got it last time! Do most comissaries have a decent selection of imports, or is it more specific to the region you're in?

25. Ah mmmmmm lecker Spaetzle !
Edited on Tue Aug-10-04 12:20 AM by CarolinaPeridot
I have a German cookbook and other recipes and thats bascially all that I eat . I went there at time of my life where everything was upset down but when I went to Germany , I found peace for the first time in my life . I love how the people actually take the time to relax . Ahhh Schwarzbrot mit Butter und Salami ... I too would like to live there again someday ( might move back there ) and I would like to raise my children over there as well so that they will get a Global perspective as well . It took me a lot of weeks to get used to America again to the point that I was depressed . Seriously sometimes I find myself saying " I wanna go home " and then I realize that I am at home alread in NC . Its what they say , home is where the heart is .

I MISS Ritter Sport . I even miss the goofy television programs . The 1/2 english 1/2 german marketing was off the wall lol .

Ich brauche ein Schweinefuss ( roasted pig feet )oder Haenchen mit Senf und Pommes bitte bald ! LOL :)
