7. There is no end to the scary stuff that people believe. |
|
I watched the same special a while back, and I was in awe of how readily people will twist reality to fit their beliefs.
The interpretations of the "code" are laughable at best. My favorite was the segment in which one of the scholars points to a pattern of words in the bible text that looks like a plane. Well, he surmises, this is obviously a prophecy about 9/11.
Amazing that the people who wrote down the Scriptures several hundred years after Christ's death would know how to hide secret code words in the form of vehicles that hadn't yet been invented. The Lord doth work in mysterious ways!
Utter crap.

18. The History Channel is horrible, I can't stand it. |
|
It is the most biased cable channel short of the religious channel's. I saw a biography of Madaline Murry O'Hare that basically gloated at the fact that she and her family were murdered...It made me sick to my stomach.
I have boycotted the History channel every since. This incidentally, is what they are trying to do to PBS, and I am seeing more and more signs of it everyday.

5. I think what happens is |
|
that there are two types of people, those who believe, and those who distort. The ones that distort pump it up the most, and WANT THE END TIMES TO COME. those who just believe, don't want it to happen in their lifetime, but are willing to accept it when and if it happens.
a DISTORTER=BUSH FUNDIES who say the world is ending now and they can't wait

8. This may not be a popular opinion |
|
But I think there is something to it. And you can do the research yourselves by getting a simple program that will let your computer search for things yourself. I have one and have found some interesting things just by fooling with it. But remember that none of this in any way supports the RW fundies ideas, or supports any of there dogmas. It just points to an intelligence behind the Torah and the way it was written.

I question your method of demeaning other peoples intelligence. Are all those people that came up with the code idea stupid and gullible? And all that oppose it are smart?

It's been demonstrated frequently that the same kinds of predictions can be found in ANY text. Also, keep in mind that in Hebrew, vowels aren't written, making it even easier to make up words.

You can do it with any given book and get the same kind of "predictions."
Wasn't there something in the Bible about not lying? Or something? Oh well.
Oh, and the History Channel is crap.

I read the book about the bible codes awhile back and still don't know what to think about it. It was based on things like every 7th letter etc.. I do know that people can read whatever they want into whatever they want and some will believe it. Like this administration saying that sending jobs overseas will make our job market better.

But the link in the above site says number patterns can be found in any translations. Probably in The Satanic Verses, and Malleus Malleficarum as well. (and Mother Goose too, I'm sure).

Where they take every few letters and form words and then they put the sentences together and it consists of events that have happened in the past and whats going to happen in the future.

27. Apparently you can get the same results with Moby Dick |
|
and Tolstoy's War and Peace. I suspect that, if you took any long piece of literature, you would get some "predictions."
But, like the works of Nostradamus, these "predictions" are useless because they only seem to predict things which have already happened.
