What did you think of "21 Grams?" |
|
I just watched it for the first time last night and was blown away. As much as I loved Mystic River, this should've been the role that Sean Penn got the Oscar for, and it's crazy that Naomi Watts and Ben. Del Toro didn't win as well.
It's rare these days to see a movie that makes me ache. This film had me stopping every 15 minutes to go kiss my four-year-old while he slept.
Shudder.
Curious what anyone else thought.

1. I liked it but didn't appreciate the religious connotations. |

Though I did love how they portrayed the backstabbing fundamentalists and how they brainwash the vulnerable.

2. To be honest, I really didn't care for it. |
|
Interesting premise, great acting and great cinematography, yet at the end of the film I just didn't care. I'm not sure if it was because the characters themselves were all so unlikable, or what it was, but I just felt underwhelmed by the whole film.

3. I just saw it last month... |
|
But I can barely remember it. Mystic River was good, but I hated the ending. It was like nobody cared what happened.....(I don't want to give away the ending to those who haven't seen it.)

4. I think everyone cared...SPOILERS! |
|
I think Penn's character was just overwhelmed by grief and then by regret for directing his rage at the wrong guy.
Robbins' widow is shown a physical and emotional wreck at the end, due to her duplicity.
Kevin Bacon knows that Penn would be thorough enough to leave no trail, on top of which I don't think he has the stomach to pursue arresting Penn, who's already lost his daughter, etc.
The one character that seems a little Lady MacBeth to me was Penn's wife, but I think she's just being a "good wife," or at least her approximation of same.
Everyone cared and all were affected by both murders. IMHO.
