Billy! Don't be a Hero!
The marching band came down along the main street, the soldier blues fell in the behind, I looked acrosss and there I saw Billy waiting to go and join the line, and with her head upo her shoulder, his young and fiance, from where I stood I saw she was crying, and thru her fear I heard her say.

*Billy don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life, billy don't be a hero, come back and make me your wife, and as they started to go, she said Billy keep your head low, Billy don't be a hero, come back to me.

The soldier blues were trapped on a hillside, the battle raging all around, the sergeant cried we gotta hold his piece of ground, I need a volunteer to ride out and bring us bakc some extra man, and Billy's hand was set up in a moment, forgetting all the words she said:

*Billy don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life, billy don't be a hero, come back and make me your wife, and as they started to go, she said Billy keep your head low, Billy don't be a hero, come back to me.

I heard this fiance got a letter said that told how Billy died that day, the letter said that he died that way, I heard she threw the letter away.

*Billy don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life, billy don't be a hero, come back and make me your wife, and as they started to go, she said Billy keep your head low, Billy don't be a hero, come back to me.

2. may you die a slow and painful death!!!
how you may ask? by having a pair of headphones surgically attached to your head and have this song played constantly at a level consistant with that of a jet engine.

or .... The Candy Man ?

I would hang myself if I were exposed to the Night Chicago Died endlessly.

But " Rub it in Rub it in " has a bad effect on me too.

13. Useless Trivia
Paper Lace, best known for The Night Chicago Died , recorded a version Billy Don't Be a Hero before Bo Donaldson's chart-topping version was released. Both songs were written by Mitch Murray. Two bits of information as worthless as the songs.

6. One "good" turn deserves another
Honey
(B. Russell)

See the tree, how big it's grown but friend it hasn't been too long it wasn't big
I laughed at her and she got mad, the first day that she planted, it, was just a twig
Then the first snow came and she ran out to brush the snow away
So it wouldn't die
Came runnin' in all excited, slipped and almost hurt herself
And I laughed till I cried
She was always young at heart, kinda dumb and kinda smart and I loved her so
And I surprised her with a puppy
Kept me up all Christmas Eve two years ago
And it would sure embarrass her
When I came in from workin' late 'cause I would know
That she'd been sittin' there and cryin'
Over some sad and silly late, late show

And honey, I miss you and I'm bein' good
And I'd love to be with you if only I could

She wrecked the car and she was sad
And so afraid that I'd be mad but what the heck
Though I pretended hard to be
Guess you could say she saw through me and hugged my neck
I came home unexpectedly and caught her cryin' needlessly
In the middle of a day
And it was in the early Spring when flowers bloom and robins sing
She went away

And honey, I miss you and I'm bein' good
And I'd love to be with you if only I could

One day while I was not at home while she was there and all alone
The angels came
Now all I have is memories of Honey and I wake up nights and call her name
Now my life's an empty stage where Honey lived and Honey played
And love grew up
And a small cloud passes overhead and cries down on the flower bed
That Honey loved

And see the tree how big it's grown but friend it hasn't been too long it wasn't big
And I laughed at her and she got mad
The first day that she planted it, was just a twig

7. there is a special place for folks like you.

I hate that song more than :

Young Girl, Get Out of My Life...
My life with you is way out of line
yew better run, girl
your'er much too young girl...

With all the charms of a woman
You've kept the secret of your youth
And now you know that is wrong to be
alone with me
And now it hurts to know the truth...

( shudder )

11. You
So many nights I sit by my window
Waiting for someone to sing me his song
So many dreams I kept deep inside me
Alone in the dark but now
You've come along

You light up my life
You give me hope
To carry on
You light up my days
and fill my nights with song

Rollin' at sea, adrift on the water
Could it be finally I'm turning for home?
Finally, a chance to say hey,
I love You
Never again to be all alone

You light up my life
You give me hope
To carry on
You light up my days
and fill my nights with song

You light up my life
You give me hope
To carry on
You light up my days
and fill my nights with song

It can't be wrong
When it feels so right
'Cause You
You light up my life

14. or
Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed
Nothin' seems to fit
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'

So I just did me some talkin' to the sun
And I said I didn't like the way he got things done
Sleepin' on the job
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'

But there's one thing I know
The blues they send to meet me won't defeat me
It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red
Cryin's not for me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'
Because I'm free
Nothin's worryin' me

t won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red
Cryin's not for me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'
Because I'm free
Nothin's worryin' me

25. OK, i'm not gonna play fair

I've been alive forever,
and I wrote the very first song.
I put the words and the melodies together,
I am music,
and I write the songs.

I write the songs that make the whole world sing.
I write the songs of love and special thing s.
I write the songs that make the young girls cry.
I write the songs, I write the songs.

My home lies deep within you,
and I've got my own place in your sole.
Now, when I look out through your eyes,
I'm you'g again, even though I'm very old.

Chorus

Oh my music makes you dance
and gives your spirit to take a chance,
and I wrote some rock 'n' roll so you can move.
Music fills your heart,
well, that's a real fine place to start.
It's from me it's for you,
it's from you, it's from me,
it's a world wide symphony.

Chorus

I am music, and I write the songs.

29. and now....the aural equivalent of a root canal
If you leave me now, you’ll take away the biggest part of me
No baby please don’t go
If you leave me now, you’ll take away the very heart of me
No baby please don’t go

A love like ours is love that’s hard to find
How could we let it slip away
We’ve come too far to leave it all behind
How could we end it all this way
When tomorrow comes we’ll both regret
Things we said today

A love like ours is love that’s hard to find
How could we let it slip away
We’ve come too far to leave it all behind
How could we end it all this way
When tomorrow comes we’ll both regret
Things we said today

If you leave me now, you’ll take away the biggest part of me
No baby please don’t go
Oh girl, just got to have you by my side

No baby, please don’t go

Oh mama, I just got to have your lovin, yeah

We’ve come too far to leave it all behind

I don't mind that song only because it reminds me of the episode where Chris gets his license. I loved that show.
